More audio from Dumba.

I don't think that Dumba is actually "black." His skin color probably comes from his Filipino mother.

Yup. Still interesting, nonetheless. Romanian is darker than a normal European, too.

Clutter has a really unusually body shape. he's a fire hydrant.

This guy looks pretty normal. I'd say Dan's 200 lb prediction is more like it. He'll be able to fly around an hit people, of course.

Clutter's only 207lbs according to Elite Prospects. If Dumba grows at all to top 6' he'll end up at least 210lbs I would think.

Is he a legit PP quarterback or does he just have a booming shot?

He led his team (and possibly WHL defensemen in general?) with 9 PP goals.

Only 207? Thats very solid for his height.

Indeed, but if Dumba should hit 200, Clutter is only 7lbs bigger than him was the point.

clutter is closer to 220. or he was this year... We'll see. I'm not disappointed by the Dumba pick anyway--he's at least a good mix of both kinds of D we needed.

“I’m so thankful for the Minnesota Wild, the opportunity they are giving me, and their faith in choosing me in the first round,” Dumba said.

Dumba is no stranger to the Sate of Hockey. At the 2011 NHL Entry Draft, Dumba was in attendance when the Wild selected Brodin in the first round.

“It’s a hockey state, right by the border in Canada,” Dumba acknowledged. “This opportunity is so amazing and I look to embrace it.”

“I love St. Paul,” Dumba said with a smile that ran from ear to ear. “It’s a great city and a great state, and I’m so thrilled to be there. It’s a world-class organization.”

It was a dream day for Dumba at CONSOL Energy Center in Pittsburgh, one he will never forget: “I’m so happy right now. It’s hard to explain.”

I still would have rather had the Wild choose Trouba, but I'm confident that Dumba can at least become a 2nd pairing guy, if not better. And he's Avder's wet dream. I can already see it:

"The Wild lose to the BLUE JACKETS? When we're up by FOUR GOALS with FIVE MINUTES LEFT and Yeo puts Matt ****ing DUMBASS IN FOR 30 SECONDS and he is the ONLY defender to be a +? I don't care! **** you, Matt!"

so brodin and dumba will be the absolute perfect pair?? the shots, playing style and skill totally complement each other

As I said a few days before the draft: "If we're picking and two of Rielly, Dumba, and Trouba are on the boards, I don't think we can go wrong."

How about that Lidstrom chump, eh? Only 192 pounds. Of course he doesn't play a physical game. You'd have to bulk up to 190 pounds if you want to play like Kronwall.

Love the pick. He's an explosive player, great attitude, great leader, provides offense, and you can always teach and improve defense. Tremendous athlete. Definitely in the Brent Burns mold.

ummm huh? normal euro's are white as white can be white, also Romania has gypsies which could contribute to the darker skin tone.

we should probably refrain from using his skin color tho, it doesn't make any damn difference what race or color he is, at the end of the day i just hope he blooms and we have a very good young defense for Suter to mentor.

Exactly. Darker than other Europeans. I know it doesn't make any difference. I'm not the one that started this.

appreciate the snark, but you might have only bothered to read a little of my reservations. it's a different kind of physical. Like i said, he'll fly around and hit people well enough but is he going to be able to move some of the bigger guys away from the net.

We are really stocking up on "leaders", though. sheesh. He's been captain a few times, and of course we have zucker, Larsson, and Granlund. that's a crap ton of character in our prospect pool.

Bingo....I think many times fans get too hung up on physical dimensions. There are many great defensemen in the NHL that are under 6' tall.

I agree...I probably shouldn't have even brought it up....but it's always been a pet peeve of mine when athletes of a certain skin color always have to be compared to another athlete of a similar skin color. In basketball, white players always get compared to other white players...and, it seems in hockey, black players always get compared to other black players.

Why can't players just be compared to other players based on ability alone?

Issue dropped/
