I don't know if I blame slats for Making Nash top priority. Depending on price and talent alone he's better than Ryan

Sounds like we did well to pass on Jordan in the end.

Nothing. Sather called, Shero said he wasn't trading within the division. End of conversation.

So we offered stepan + for staal but not Ryan? I understand c for c, but Ryan fills a much bigger need imo

The other Staal brother in the NHL, the Rangers' Marc, would have loved to join forces with Jordan, as well, and Rangers general manager Glen Sather made inquiries with Penguins GM Ray Shero. But a source indicated that the Penguins would not even consider trading Jordan Staal within the division, so the conversation didn't go far.

Penguins are going to go after Suter. They just traded Michalek.

Yeah just pointing out that I don't think the talks progressed far enough that we actually made an offer.

I'm thinking they're targeting Parise.

I can't believe the Penguins are actually doing this. How much cap room do they have now? Enough for BOTH Suter and Parise?

The Penguins are either targeting Suter, or trying to build a team that scores so many goals it doesn't need defense

Pens are going to need to re-sign Crosby and Malkin, both will command 8-9 mil a year.

Penguins would be much better off with Suter. Then again Parise would be the winger they have always wanted.

I'm glad we didn't get Staal. I don't wanna see a Dubinsky or a Stepan in a Penguin jersey.

Why do I feel like we struck out today? I mean I don't mind the pick... I don't know. Maybe I'm just disappointed we didn't make a splash. I just had higher expectations for today. A trade up to draft a sliding forward (there were a lot of those!) would have been great. I know we probably weren't in the hunt but I really wanted Ribiero. I'm also really pissed about the J. Staal trade, not because he didn't come here, but because friggin' Suter is a Penguin now. Great. And not that this should matter, but I'm irked that the Penguins picked Matteu... It's mostly just because I feel bad for him and his dad especially.

Pitt adding Parise or Suter would be horrible for us. I hope Parise resigns with the Devils.

With Phoenix getting Michalek looks like Yandle will get traded.

I just want to disclaim that I'm not nuts about the idea of making two major moves.

But if we bring in Yandle, then I'm OK moving Del Zotto in a deal for a forward.

Nice to see lil' Z back with a team that actually plays defense. Pittsburgh's system was brutal for him.

why cause the Pens replaced Staal with Sutter on their current roster? I fail to see how this makes them better guys? If anything its a good hockey trade and they are about the same for next yr. I do like Sutter as a 3rd line C

They just dealt a good Dman to clear salary..........how about we wait on see how they do in Free Agency or in other moves?

I mean really why do the Rangers panic right now? Talk to the Ducks about Ryan and look to get that deal done. Screw Nash , the asking price is stupid
