It's a good pick based on the fact that we've got next to nothing at this age and position and close to NHL ready. Apparently this guy is. I like that this guy is able to go straight to Manchester and doesn't have to develop for a few years in junior hockey. Injuries will happen. Maybe we'll need him.
This is exactly why I said Pearson might be the pick, and am fine with it
Food for thought on Pearson, he was named a second team OHL post-season all-star. By comparison Nail Yakupov was a third team OHL post-season all-star. I'm not saying Pearson is a better player overall, but he did get a higher all-star nod by OHL GMs.
He was also third in OHL scoring, just behind Tyler Toffoli and Michael Sgarbossa (who was undrafted by signed with San Jose in 2010 and was traded to Colorado).
