JVR + 20th for Ryan is something I would be happy with. Schenn + JVR, I thrown my laptop out my 8th floor window

Pretty much. Essentially every trade deadline since hes been in the league he's been offered around just to gauge market interest (I'm assuming). They throw him out, get everyones offers, then go "...mehhh J/K never mind!". They are probably doing it again, but this time, unlike before, Ryan is being quite vocal here about how he's tired of it and he wants to leave.

Flyers picking a 2-way center and leaving some stud D on the board leads me to believe one of Schenn or Couturier will be included in a deal for Ryan.

Most likely Schenn. There is no way they trade Couturier. They are too high on him.

Nor should they trade Couturier... our big problem is defense, you don't trade your best up and coming defensive forward.

this

everyone who is upset with us not picking him...what are you basing your displeasure on??? TSN's list? I'm guessing 1% of you have seen less than1% of these players in the draft play...how about trusting the guys in our scouting department?...they've done okay recently

If those guys on TSN were such brilliant hockey minds, they'd be working for an nhl team...lets all calm down...we werent getting a top pair d-man for next season at the draft tonight (short of a trade)

what i am worried about is schenn now...please please please dont trade him paul

There is no way this can go well for us. If it's JVR and Schenn we overpaid by a mile. If it's JUST Schenn and picks or something then it's a horrible cap move.

I guess it KINDA works if it's JUST JVR and picks, but I just don't see that happening.

cant be more than JVR Read and picks if you ask me...adding schenn or couts is just too much

Schenn's play got better and better as the season went on, and he was awesome in the playoffs...I really like this kid and I don't think theres many players I'd want to trade him for right now...same with couts

The only way I'd be ok with trading Schenn is if we get Weber in return

Bobby Ryan seems to really want to play here which is cool; he actually talked about potentially playing on a line with Giroux.

However if the Ducks are asking for JVR+Schenn (or Couts) Homer better hang the **** up!

Ryan rights to Parros and Ellis

for

JVR, Reed, Shelley, Gustafsson and a 3rd pick

Would love to see Parros as the new Philly tough guy...Eklund is always high on Ellis and his age is better than some of the alternatives 34+ years

I don't have much interest in trading for Ryan honestly. So we can watch JVR go and score 65 points with Getzlaf and Perry for a million less, and they have one of Schenn and Couturier too? **** that.

Ducks GM Bob Murray said he's "disappointed" with Bobby Ryan's comments and plans to meet with him face to face after the draft.

Isn't 2013 supposed to be a better draft?

That second offer is pretty awful for Colorado.

I wouldn't be opposed to flipping Read there for Elliott +, though. Kid has a wicked (RH) wrist shot.

Yeah but you hope with your acquisition it will be a late pick anyway.

I know a lot of the hype is self-generated and stoked by the tweeters and bloggers, but the source of my disappointment was/is primarily the continued ignorance of this franchise's primary need. The fact that Maatta was the top name on the TSN list (among others) when the 20th pick came around just seemed to be a no-brainer.

We all might absolutely fall in love with Laughton, and Holmgren might swing one or more deals to revitalize the D. At this moment, it's just odd.

So what's the right negotiation strategy: get in there while there's frustration on both sides and make a low-ball offer or let this fester for a few days/weeks?

It would be intriguing if Murray made a snap decision that he would be okay with Schenn + 2nd (for example) for Ryan.

there were no studs left on the board by then. Laughton won't be here for 2-3 years.
