We all might absolutely fall in love with Laughton, and Holmgren might swing one or more deals to revitalize the D. At this moment, it's just odd.
I think alot of the dissapointment comes from hoping a guys falls and axiously waiting as pick by pick are taken, and then when he does fall not seeing the guy taken. But what we have to realize is the Flyers have been extremely successful drafting in the first round, and a lot of other teams passed on Maatta as well.

I trust Homer, maybe they saw flaws in Maatta's game that they didn't like, who knows, I think the organization has been successful enough in the draft that we should trust their judgment.

Um didn't they try and sign Maatta as an undrafted player last year?

I really hope they get Ryan. I can really see him wearing the jersey proudly and taking his game to another level.

I'm quite certain they were saying the same thing about the 2012 draft last year, and as of today it's a weak draft Wish they'd make up their minds.

What do we think is the least, realistically, we could move for Ryan?

They seem to say that every year

Always a strong draft the year before and gets weaker as it gets closer

This may have already been talked about, but does Ryan have a NTC?

Don't know, but I think it would be the fastest waived NTC ever.

If Ryan wants to be here, I say get him. I was absolutely fuming when TT went 18th overall to Chicago, this would make up for it.

Thanks. I was thinking that if he did it would actually help us to acquire him since he could veto a trade to another team. Oh well, it was just a thought

The whole offseason so far can be characterized as bizarre. I was convinced that some sort of deal was coming today. I guess some level of kudos can be given for not rushing it, but I am a bit concerned that there doesn't really seem to be any sort of plan forming.

While he's extremely skilled and consistent, I don't think he's worth JvR AND Schenn. He's still a 65 pt winger WITH elite talent around him (contrary to Nash). I think he can improve on that, but the Flyers shouldn't overpay for potential. I'd offer JvR and Mez or JvR and Read.....or Read, Mez, and our 3rd

Simmonds and Voracek are also touchable, I'd prefer to keep Jake though. All picks are also on the table.

I'd love to see Homer wait until the price drops dramatically, but I'm sure some GM will swoop in and offer something Murray can't refuse before then.

What about Ryan and Beauchemin/Sbisa for JVR + Schenn?

The plan all along might be patience. The rumors might be just BS. I think Homer knows what he has with Schenn and Couturier. He does not want them off this team. Also Laughton is a player who I have no clue about. By reading the scouting reports and trusting Homer and our scouts, he most likely will turn into a great player.

The plan is patience people.

I don't think the Ducks will give up another defenseman off their roster. Beauchemin just inked a new deal with a NMC, IIRC, and I think they see Sbisa as a long-term piece.

Pretty sure Anaheim would only have about 3 NHL defenseman.

Edit: And with there not being many good defenseman on the market, I doubt they would want to move one of them

I just want to see JVR play the full season next year. I really believe he's ready to take his game to the next level

I'd love Ryan if he came here but imo it's not worth trading JVR for him when JVR could turn into a player like Ryan or better.

Most I'd offer is JVR and a 1st or 2nd rounder

I don't understand the relationship between parts 1 and 2 of your post, on the one hand, and part 3, on the other.

I'd have to agree with this. I just really dont want to trade any of the young core we acquired last off season, namely Couturier, Schenn, and Voracek
