Biron or Clemmensen are the best choices. Both can be stop-gap starters and both have experience as that and as backups. Biron actually has experience at being a regular starter so I'd rather have him. Plus I like him. Clemmensen would probably be a bit cheaper though plus I expect the Rags to re-sign Biron as they were happy with him.
Also, if this organization gives Leighton another shot as a backup, which is something I could see them doing, I'll have an aneurism.
It's stupid that we have Lilja for another year. It was a bad signing.
The board doesn't automatically revolt at all 35+. It depends on the situation. Many of the situations aren't good. For instance, Hedberg for two years...I don't think that would be good. I'd consider him a 1 year guy.
It's not at all stupid. Lilja did a solid job. And it was a good signing. He played more games then it was intended for him to play, and he did a good job. it's a good thing to have an experienced gy as your 7th D man.
Ignoring the Islanders season because it's the Islanders, Biron has put up a .915 save percentage or better three of the last four seasons and even in the one season he didn't he still had a good winning percentage. He has 7 or 8 seasons as a starter under his belt and with good save percentages in the majority of them. That's not the sign of an untalented player. Had a .915 in 72 games with the Sabres in 01-02, a .913 in 52 games with the Sabres in 03-04, a .918 with the Flyers in 07-08, a .915 in 08-09, and an overall career save percentage of .911. The guy's not the greatest but at least acknowledge the facts that his career numbers and consistent status as an NHL player point to a decent player and that he played well for us in his three years with us (how many goalies have we had that posted consecutive .915 save percentage seasons with at least 55 games played in both seasons?). Basically, he's not trash as some of you would call him.

He not trash but from what I recall from when they let him go....they weren't crazy about his ho-hum "demeanor" but it was from a starting goalie standpoint. As a backup yeah he would be fine but I would just rather him not come back to this team. He's tainted with the Rangers anyway...

Biron wouldn't be too bad, and it'd be nice given the history.
However, if Montoya is available for cheap he's a good option. He's not spectacular, but he's put up serviceable numbers for the past two years in NY.
I'm wit ya on this. he looked real good last year. you need a guy that has potential to take over if need be and he's young and still evolving and he wouldn't threaten the mental midget. somebody on here said boosh. that somebody needs to be shot.

Are there not some kind of antibiotic the franchise could take. Michael Leighton was on this team, but turn the page for crying out loud. He was mediocre with a couple of future HoF Dmen still around the top of their game in front of him. I shudder to think what the team GAA would be with Leighton backstopping a run-and-gun team.
