Right, but the point is that Pittsburgh clearly has something in mind here.
And that's good for them, but it's several steps too far to assume they're getting Parise or Suter. Each of them will likely get a dozen different offers.
I'm happy that Pittsburgh is worse now than they were this morning, with no guarantee that they get better by October.

Yeah, I'm not saying they'll get either guy. It's just interesting to see them apparently making a push. Definitely an exciting start to the off-season.
I know Carlzner will probably kill me for this but I wonder if Yzerman would have been tempted by, say, 16th, Neuvirth and Wey for 10th and Garon. Then McPhee gets over his hate of russian players and drafts Forsberg at 10 and Grigorienko at 11. Just imagine
Ovechkin Grigorienko Kuznetsov
Johansson Backstrom Forsberg
Pittsburgh really didn't get that much worse. Sutter can do most of what Staal can on the 3rd line. They lost a bit of offense but that hasn't been their problem recently. Defensively they're pretty much where they are.
One decent top 6 W signing makes them better for next year.
EDIT just saw the Michalek trade. That they ****ed up.

It sounds like Suter wants to stay in the West. I don't remember reading much if anything on Parise. Hopefully the Playoff run keeps him in Jersey.
There were six times as many players drafted in the first round from the USHL than from the Q. Staggering how far the talent level has fallen. And the only guy drafted from the Q was a Russian.

The USHL is a good hockey league.
USHL@USHL
A record 6 #USHL players, one USHL alum and one USHL draft pick selected by @NHL teams in the 1st Round of the 2012 #NHLDraft.
Mike Vogel @VogsCaps
#Caps fans rooted for Avs to do poorly, hoping for top 5 pick. Avs weren't terrible, but Caps still landed top 5 talent in Forsberg.
I literally said this right before we selected Forsberg, in the first thread.

HAHA You guys should read that topic, those people are seriously talking about drafting Jones or MacKinnon. The butt hurt overall on that topic is amazing.

Yeah, thread was a pretty fun read. They hate me so much... Guess the truth hurts sometimes.
A little OT, but if you guys really want to laugh go and read the draft thread on the Calgary Flames Board. The fans reaction when Feaster inexplicably traded down from 14 with so many great players still left -- you will laugh so hard the tears will run down your cheeks!
