This is why none of us here on HFBoards are GM. We're not in the boardroom meetings to know in full detail about the players that get drafted and why. But based on what I'm told about Jankowski, this is a guy who could of been had in the 2nd round that the Flames acquired from the Sabres. Again, I'm sure Jankowski will be a part of their successful core in time, but I don't think he was one that should of been drafted in the 1st round.

Again, please prove me wrong Flames organization, because we need to re-ignite the battle of Alberta. I'm actually jealous at the battle of Pennsylvania because that used to be us. The talk of night when we are playing, the team that other fans watches because they just know it will be a good matchup. I wish the best for our organizations( I hate to admit it ). And I hope the Flames do real well for Alberta's sake. Just not better than the Oilers of course.

Oilers will be a powerhouse team like Detroit in the future.

Where will Calgary be though is the question.

I'm sure the Flames could have moved down another couple of spots and he still would have been available. Terrible asset management by the Flames

Exactly why I wish them well. Part of me says, " nothing is sweater than to destroy the Flames." But again, that would be just boring. I hope they can at least compete like they used to in the league.

He's already the best player of the draft, imo.

Are Oilers fans talking about destroying the Flames when you have a grand total of 3 wins in the last 3 seasons against them?

Taylor Hall, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and now Yakupov were drafted because they were BPA. We did not draft based on needs; therefore, whatever damage the Nucks' do to us on the scoreboard, we'll just respond. We may not have the defense or goaltending. But make sure the Nucks don't get into penalty trouble or get caught " slippin' " against this offense.

You can't be a powerhouse without defense or goaltending.

Of course. After mid-way season last year, the Flames age were exposed. Getting defeated by the Oilers 6-1 while missing one of their younger offensive flare. Sure when we have games earlier in the season, you guys show us what veteran presence is all about. But when the season carries on, your roster reminds me of having a line full of Ryan Smyths; out of gas and clearly needs to hang up the skates. But hey, with the addition of Yakupov, it's going to be very tough to outscore a crop consisting of:

Taylor Hall, Jordan Eberle, Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, Nail Yakupov, Ales Hemsky, Sam Gagner and Magnus Pajaarvi.

no one. didn't know drafting top 3 overall would fix all of the oilers problems in one fell swoop. and there are A LOT of problems with that team
