MATTEAU! MATTEAU! MATTEAU!

Obviously, he was picked by the Devils. I'm kind of excited. I have high hopes for the kid, but I don't know much about him. From brief reading, I see the Raffi Torres comparison isn't fair. What's his ceiling? 2nd/3rd line? Points? Better comparison?

Traded to another team.

Petty, but I don't want to see that name on the back of a Devils jersey. Could be the nicest kid in the world, I don't really care. Not happy with this pick in the slightest, although from what I read he's not a terrible pick.

Grow up, bro. The series was 18 years ago. His style is a need of ours and fits perfect in DeBoer's system. Good pick in my book considering how the whole first round went down.

waste of a 1st next year or the year after. 3rd-4th line grinder. he's fine for a 29th pick, but they're being forced to give up a pick next year or the year after and matteau isn't worth giving up a potential 15th if brodeur retires before they have to give the pick up.

Because building up the team now, especially with a lot of older players on the roster, is much better than waiting to acquire younger assets.

He's got issues, but he's a character player, the kind you win with, Blainville won't tolerate his crap, and you'll see, he will be a dam good player.
