I really thought Bergfors was going to pan out for the Devils.

Oilers would get 90 points this past season. And now I have this pretty avatar to show for it.

I thought Stamkos was going to bust.

I thought Tavares was going to bust.

I didn't think Crosby was worth the hype.

I thought Quick would come back down to earth a long time ago and live in the AHL.

I thought Vesa Toskola was a better goalie than Nabokov

I thought Recchi was done as a player in 2007

I thought Halak was a flash in the pan before 2010

I thought Karlsson was Phaneuf 2.0

I thought Turris should have been the #1 overall and was going to be the next Yzerman.

I thought Olli Jokinen would go back to being a 90 point player in 2009-10
You don't have a lot of trust for 1st overalls .

I thought Stamkos couldn't repeat his sophomore season success.

I thought John LeClair would be a decent third liner for the Flyer.

I thought Grabovski would be an overdangling soft non competing 4th liner with speed

Most wrong? Probably when we signed Gaborik. Was so sure and told my buddies he would never, ever, ever play more than 60 games in a season through the life of the contract. (76, 62, 82 so far). I was also entirely too jacked up every time we signed a big UFA in the early 2000's. So wrong about pretty much all of them.

From recent memory I didn't think P.A. Parenteau had the ability at his age to improve much from his first season. In his first season he felt like a fringe player who made to many mistakes, last year he played more like a legit second line player

Somebody might overpay him this summer but I do feel he has the ability to provide a team with some decent secondary scoring if put in the right situation(although unless your PP needs him playing off the left hand boards, stay away since that is his bread and butter)

Thought there was no way in hell the Panthers would make the playoffs this past year, and that those contracts were just to get cap compliant/placeholders until their prospects are ready.

Thought Boychuk was the "safe" selection in 2009, even though I really wanted Ennis on this team badly as any Canes fan that was around at the time can attest to.

I was excited for some elite goaltending when the Leafs traded for Vesa Toskala.

Horcoff coming of 50 points in 53 games an Allstar appearance where he won fastest skater. 5.5 cap hit for 6 years awesome we finally have a bonified first line center. Wow what was I smoking

After Hodgson's 08-09 season, I legit thought he would be the second best player from that draft. Yeahh, right.

Thought Chistov could have been a great player.

Thought a goalie like Quick would never lead the Kings anywhere.

Was wrong on Jonathan Quick. I thought Bernier was going to be the man in LA. I remember thinking the Kings should have traded Quick for Jeff Carter . And while I still think Bernier could be a Top 10 goalie, Quick's performance this season was the best goaltending since Hasek for the Sabres over a decade ago.

Honestly, probably Ottawa last year... figured them to be a bottom 10, perhaps bottom 5 team.

Good on them to have the season they did.

Just from this past season:

- I thought the Panthers would be bottom feeders
- I thought the Leafs and Oilers would end up 6-8 in their respective conferences.
- I was sure that the Kings beating the Canucks was a fluke.
- I was sure that the Kings beating the Blues was a fluke.

I really do feel bad for them. Their fans deserve better. They've been very patient. That's why I always get irritated when Oilers fans justify winning the lottery and stealing CBJ's pick (being a good thing) by saying "we've put up with so much...we deserve this". The Oilers have how many cups and former legends? Columbus has basically nothing to be proud of so far.
Reminds me of this side-by-side comparison Mayor Bee came up with shortly after the lottery results:

This. So very this.

I also remember thinking Bogosian was going to end up little more than a second-pairing guy. The jury's still out, but this past year makes that look a little less likely to be his ceiling.

I thought Mike Smith would bomb in Phoenix and the Coyotes would be a lotto team.

I thought Jordan Schroeder was going to be a first line badass in the NHL.
