The man has raw skill, AND he's young. You can't miss on this.

Just trade Dubi for a prospect and a 3rd and we have room.
Way too much of a commitment. 1 year deal. That's it. We've got too many RFAs to sign next summer and the salary cap is too much of an unknown to give him a 3 year deal at 7 mil per year.

Arming is actually better defensively than he gets credit for and is still a pretty lethal scorer. He's not fallen as far as Frolov had when we signed him, but I could see semin signing a 1 year deal to prove worthy of a better contract.

Wouldn't mind if that were here in NY. But I do not believe we play a system that would allow him to display his offensive talents.

Doubt he signs here.

Yay, I think they have to, unless some other player becomes available that hasn't been to this point.

I think Craig Patrick's role in Howson's price for Nash can't be dismissed. I don't think Nash's price is coming down, and I don't think the Rangers will pay it.

Ryan is the only other realistic choice at this point but many teams would be interested in Ryan, making him too expensive as well.

well he is going to score goals that's for sure. It just may be real frustrating to watch at time

Yeah, 28 year old unrestricted free agents usually sign one year deals.

After Boyle took a Semin shot to the face () in the playoffs, he can join our team only if he puts Semin shots in the other team's net, which I'm confident he can do.

1 year deal, 2 year max. This team needs scoring, we can afford to have ONE player who doesn't fit the mold of the team and locker room.

He's not signing a 1 year deal. In all likelihood he'll sign long term in Detroit.

IF you could sign him 1-2 years, absolutely. I highly doubt that you can.

Agree on yes to 1 and 1 yr club option (2 yrs max) but NO on "make him fit".

Fooey for lack of more vulgar vernacular on Torts and his wrong, stupid system. His rigidity is part of why we lost last year.

Davidson/Messier and others are good replacements everyone can get on the same page with...

The more I think about it ... it's not "terrible" ... if he will buy into the defense mentality. I will say though ... if we can grab him on a 1YR deal and still swing a trade for say Bobby Ryan, we would be pretty dynamic.

He might just to showcase his offensive talent in hopes to land a long term one next year.

Alex Semin is the kind of talent we don't have on this team. I don't see him signing with the Rangers on a 1 or 2 year deal and I really don't want to go beyond 3 for him. Would prefer 1 or 2 years, would probably go 3 if my back was against the wall.

I would love to bring in Bobby Ryan depending on the cost. If we're looking at a cheap option to add some offense, I'm still advocating signing Sykora to a 2 year deal. He made $650K last year and is a lock for 20 goals. 2 years, $1.8-2.2M total. ($900K-$1.1M per year)

Yay. 1 year deal. Eventhough he has no heart I'm confident Torts will fire him up. But he has amazing raw talent and an actual scoring touch which is what this team needs.

He'll sure help the PP, and help with shootouts. But, that's about it.
He doesn't fit the teams philosophy.
Zherdev wasn't brought back for that very reason.
No to Semin.

Maybe I'm just immature, but I got a laugh out of reading Semin - Plan B in the same sentence

Torts would chew him up though. Not a fan.

Frolov was a good risk to take. No one else to take that space and a perennial 30 goal scorer through his 20's? Who knows why he tailed off like he did, but a 1 year 3 mil deal was an excellent gamble to take.

That idiotic approach is why we were in purgatory for nearly a decade. Hell, that logic is what lead to Redden, Drury, and Gomez.

Your only concern is adding scoring. Scoring Scoring Scoring. You're so obsessed with it, you'll do something beyond stupid, like offering Semin a 3 year deal.

no Semin is just a lot better than most on here give him credit for. Oh and he bought into hunter system which is same as torts. You are right though scoring scoring scoring. U know why? That's the point of the game and we lack it badly
