Dang it. Wanted this guy in Vancouver at anywhere around the 3.5 to low 4 area. Guy would have been temp replacement while Kes will be out.
Kings looking for the dynasty on the coast huh, kinda scary.

See what winning will do? Stoll was entrenched in the South Bay community. So long as he got a fair offer, he was staying. In fact if there was a Kings UFA worth overpaying for, it was Stoll. The Kings don't have a suitable replacement in-house and they certainly would have overpaid to get Gaustad or Moore if they missed out on Stoll.

But the best part of this for the franchise and it's fans is LAK has been unsuccessful trying to overpay UFAs, now after winning a cup, they're able to underpay some guys who wanna stay and maybe recruit some guys they haven't been able to in the past, we'll see.

Kings are in a great place short term and long term. Finally!

Stoll did not want to go anywhere, not only because of the cup, but because his wife, Rachel Hunter, and she spending the majority of her time in LA due to her work obligations.

You're aware they never got married and split up like 3 years ago right?

LMAO I was thinking the same exact thing. Did we discover time travel while I was asleep last night?

I was worried that we might lose Stoll and to get him re-upped for less than what he has been paid over the last few years is great. We'll see what becomes of Loktionov. He didn't exactly light it up when given a chance, but he's still only 22 and you can't discount the Murray factor when considering everyone's offense last year.

great rate/term for Stoll... definitely a "hometown" discount as he would have fetched 4M$+ on July 1st (especially with the thin UFA forward crop this offseason).

Kings have $12 million available with 22 players signed. Only one more player needed to be signed. I could see Penner with a two year deal around $7-8 million ($3.5-$4 cap hit).

Well King is a RFA. But aside from him, Penner is what's left to sign of FAs. No way Penner gets more than 2/5.5M. Of the UFAs on the team, he's the most replaceable. He has little leverage with the Kings. If he wants to stay, he's making less than Stoll.

Stoll played a significant amount less than he did the previous years and the team itself was scoring less. As a team's 2C, he puts up 20 goals and ~45 points as well as being effective in the dot and in shutting down the other team. He's a veteran with multiple trips to the Cup Finals and was our most consistent forward in the playoffs.

That's easy 4M for Stoll on the open market. Boyle is much less proven and is not nearly as well rounded, thus he get's less even if his point totals are similar to Stoll's on his down year.

lucky kings! you`ve got a pretty bright future

Stoll would have been great for our #3 center position too

Penner will give a hometown discount. His experiences have taught him that it isn't all about the coin. These guys have a very good thing going in LA. If you're young and stupid and not roughed up by life a bit, you don't realize how rare and valuable that can be.

I think it's telling that Penner has gone out of his way to tell the media he's willing to take a discount and is still unsigned, yet Stoll and Fraser have been locked up.

If that's not a sign Lombardi is jumping hard into the Parise sweepstakes, I don't know what is.

Maybe. But Fraser is an easy deal to make for both sides, and, of the three, Stollie was the top priority.
