So will he be staying over there or did Norfolk get more crowded?
Welcome to the team!
If the Ducks buy out JDD it means that Andersen will be coming over. The Ducks now own the rights to Andersen for two years, so if the Ducks don't buy out JDD and Fasth bolts after one year or doesn't work out, the Ducks can sign him for 2013/14.
I wouldn't get too excited over this pick. That's nothing against him as a player as we canes fans were really looking forward to having him come over after an amazing year in the SEL. His agent seems very concerned with his future in whatever organization he joins and he wouldn't sign with the hurricanes as he didn't feel he could become starter there. Said he didn't want to play in the ahl. With Hiller and your recent signing of Fasth I'm not sure he wants to join you either.
^ Pretty much that. He (or his new agent) believes he should be starting in the NHL in the next 2-3 years. No AHL, no backup. If you can't offer him that, he'll likely cause you some trouble.
That's entirely your interpretation. He said that he does not want to come over right now, and apparently Carolina would not let him play another year as guaranteed starter in the SEL. They wanted him to come over immediately to battle it out, but with Cam Ward in net (for five more years) all he could possibly accomplish with maximum success in NA was to manage the gate, and that was if he could beat out the already signed backup. Obviously he feared that he would swim around in the minors for years with no change of getting to start in the NHL. I don't agree with that decision and I think he should have signed, but I think the talk in here would be more fruitfull if you'd at least tell the whole story.
If Cam Ward was 36 and there had been an actual change of becoming starter in the next couple of years, I am sure he would have signed. Also if it meant AHL and backup.
