Poile and Sather have made 3 deals swapping picks. In 2008,the Rangers traded a 4th in 09 to NSH for a 4th in 08. The Rangers traded their pick in 08 for Backman. Last year, the Rangers swapped their 6th in this draft for a 6th in 2011. The Rangers traded their pick in 11 to PHX for Eriksson. Todays trade.

Maybe they know Schultz is signing so they're not worried about only making 3 selections this year?

Would Zharkov not have been a good pick? Is Zack Stepan really that bad that he's not worth a chance?

Im only asking because I legitimately don't know.

I don't get it either. Especially a decision to trade a 3rd round pick for a future 3rd? I think it's safe to assume that Gordie & Co. know more about the available prospects than the average HF draft follower.

Doubt anyone is dumb enough to give us a 5th for Scott......except Sather.

Hopefully we get Slepyshev or Prokhorkin, if they come over.

Nothing really excites me about Stepan, except his name. This kid is going to be a bigger project pick than Fogarty, and he didn't really blow anyone away at Shattuck this past season.

With all that said, I still wouldn't mind picking him up

Wouldn't be mad if we took Stepan at 119 and called it a day. Early flight back to NY. Peaaaaaace

im comfortable with our prospects pool. no need to bring in players that dont project. our staff are finding good ways of finding talent - e.g. Hrvnik

Josh Anderson is a solid later round pick for Columbus. Grew like 5 inches this year.

Possible goalie at 119?

Red Line:

The ultimate sleeper would be Connor Hellebuyck, a massive (6-4, 185) netminder who plays in the unlikely destination of Odessa, Texas. He's a kid that we kept noticing every time we went to North American Hockey League tournaments to check out Anthony Stolarz. The 1993 birthdate is a classic case of a late bloomer who is raw as hell, but had the size and physical tools (quick feet, sharp glove) necessary to become a good prospect.
