Pick Hyka a couple of defensemen and the regular goon now, so we can get over with.

Leafs trade Jonas Gustavsson's rights to Jets for 7th rounder next year that's conditional

At 111th overall the #Flyers take Fredrik Larsson from the Swedish junior hockey league

I hear you, but

The Flyers have said they'll do something this offseason about the defense, and I believe them. Remarks have been made by Snider and PH both. Snider also remarked about the goaltender situation last year and we know what happened.

The reason the draft is a little funny, although it will not provide immediate help (usually), is that it is a bit like sending your spouse out for milk and sugar, which you need, and he/she comes back with bread and lunch meat. Sure, that might have been the best option available, but it's not helping you bake the cake on the box you're holding in your hand at the moment. Maybe it does later on through trades, or making other players tradeable when they become redundant, so you can address specific needs, but the initial idea: "Flyers need defense. Draft goalie!" is counterintuitive until you take the long look. It can be infuriating.

The best situation for your emotions is always: The BPA is what the team needs.

However, reality is that the Flyers need to restock the cupboards pretty badly in all types of players. Almost all that is good is up with the team, and what is left on the Phantoms are bottom pairing guys, to borderline guys, to career AHLers.

The same thing is said every year about our defense.. Stock up on D prospects so in a few years we aren't throwing everything away all the time

I agree. I would prefer that the majority of the players are homegrown.

I'm told Flyers believe "price is too steep" for Yandle. At least for now.

Indeed. Hoping to find a steal in a guy just turning the corner.

Seeing the same thing in a few of their NCAA signings.

Would be cool to draft Nick Ebert. He's a New Jersey kid and was rated in the top ten at the start of the year.

He's fallen out of flavor, but he probably still has the potential to take a late round chance on if available...

I completely forgot about that kid.

His stock has really fallen.
