I think a lot of Sens fans hear 'high school player' and immediately think of Brian Lee...and then shortly after...think of Anze Kopitar.
The fourth round is probably a good time to roll the dice on high schoolers though. The first round wasn't (I'm looking at you John Muckler).
Wasn't Lee a USHL player when we drafted him? I know he played Minnesota HS hockey and was Mr. Minnesota (or whatever that award is), but didn't he have a season in the USHL behind him when we took him?
Anyways: sure, 4th round, take a gamble. I'm just saying I don't like the track record US high school position players have. That being said, I'm clearly hoping Boyle can break that trend.
Did anyone hear Pierre Dorions breakdown on him? Best player at the beanpot outside of Jankowski, that tournament is no joke tons of nhl draft picks OHL players and guys that have commited to division one schools. Yet again by picking a college player he has lots of time to develop, he clearly has the hockey blood in him and he is probably still growing.
