7th round pick in '13 if he signs here. I wouldn't mind having him.

Looks like that may be it for Mason.

I'm interested to see how he does away from goaltender hell in Toronto.

Winnipeg Jets ‏@NHLJets

Winnipeg Jets acquire rights to Jonas Gustavsson from the Toronto Maple Leafs for conditional 7th round pick.
Guess they got someone they wanted to be the backup.

probably leafs only get it if he signs - if he doesn't sign, we don't get it.

If you guys do sign him, i wouldn't be surprised if he plays much better than he did for us. And even for us, he had his moments, could be quite good when on his game, just inconsistent...

Guess mine can be deleted haha

Seems like a reasonable option for backup.

He was misused in Toronto and I hope he excels for you guys. I was hoping he would end up in Winnipeg. If signed, I will be getting my Jets Jersey.

I like this move. He has the potential to be a solid back-up. Much younger than Mason, which should allow us to have some continuity in net from year to year.

I'll say this now to get out a head of the people who look to panic, this is no reflection of how contract talks are going with Pavs. It's a move for a back up.

Not a bad acquisition. He's actually the backup goalie I was hoping for.

If Pavelec leaves Wpg then you will have another goaltending hell.

I wish it was a 2012 7th and not a 2013 7th. Next year is supposed to be the deepest draft of the decade.

Then again, we're talking about a 7th rounder

Nice was hoping they would go after him for the back up role. I think he could excel if he knows his role is to play 30 games and spell Pavs.

A fresh start would probably be real good for him.

Insiders were saying he could turn out to be a Mike Smith.

I think a change of scenery will be good for him. We have seen Wade Flaherty work with Pavs and Mason and during a stretch Pavs was doing real good on his rebounds.

Monster's flaws are rebounds and confidence. Which I think the jets will work on nicely with him if he signs. Fans cheering him on will boost his confidence.

don't be happy but this he's been with the leafs for 3 years maybe 4 i lost track but in all that time he had ONE good month. if he starts in winnipeg (asuming Pavalec bolts to the KHL which hopefully does NOT happen) the jets WILL be drafting top 5 in 2013.

Thanks. One of the tough things about living in Winnipeg is that we never get to see any Leafs games or Leafs coverage, appeciate your report.

A change of scenery will help. Not having Francois Allaire force your style to be a blocker style goalie might give him a chance to use his natural ability that got him to the NHL. Not every goalie is JS Giguere.

Well I wouldn't blame all his "rough" years on just him. Defence on the leafs hasn't been the greatest for the last 3 or 4 years.
