Another competitor. Our pool definitely needs a little extra grit, and it sound like this guy has it. Throw in good hands and size -- I like it.

Exactly. Last two drafts were mostly skill, this year we are adding some sandpaper.

I have no problem with adding a little grit to the future lineup. I don't know anything about this guy, but I'll trust the scouts.

In HF prospect grading, this guy looks like a high number low letter kind of prospect, 7.5C

Nah. He won't get that high a ranking right away.

Probably not, but he looks like the kind of guy that could end up a real player if he puts it all together - high ceiling.

Really surprised we didn't go with Frk, but it looks like lots of teams were avoiding his concussion.

I think it's likely that everyone's favorite French Canadian scout had a large hand in this one.

If by late you mean late 2nd round, or at the very worst, late 3rd round pick, you're right. He has a great offensive instinct, top-6 potential. He can do everything on the ice, he is a good skater, a great playmaker but he is a sniper first. He has a solid and accurate shot. He is very good around the net. He is willing to play physical and why not, drop the gloves. He will need to work on his two-way game and work to get stronger though, but he has a good work ethic and he is very smart, so it's not a big deal.
I think we got a steal here. He was a late riser and well like Lucia last year.

I'll say this, we're building a nasty, gritty team that no one will want to play against

It really seems that way. I love to watch that type of game too.

I'll get a chance to see him abit in the Q this year.
From what I'm told he can score and hit... He's a coveted type in the Q.

I guess I would have been okay with a Sissons or Thrower pick because those are names I recognize, but reading about this guy makes me think we took him because we think he'll be the best player. I'm thinking he may need more than 2 years to make the NHL though, and that's okay. We have time in the pool now to continue to take the best guys, and we didn't really have a lot of guys with his skillset in the pool.
I can't be angry with the pick when I know nearly nothing of the guy, but I'm excited for where he could end up getting to.

I wonder what was up with his PIM trend. It wasn't so bad in AAA or his first two years in the Q, but this last year he was over a minute per game.

Of the other people on the board at the time, I maybe would have preferred Kulak, Frk, or Shore. Two of those could have slipped to our 3rd pick though (Kulak ended up in the 4th and Shore was picked 7 before our 3rd) so I'm not too worried. Bussieres versus Frk is one risk against another, but we went with the guy with more grit.
