Another 1992-born. Going to Manchester too? I don't know if he's eligible cuz he's from the USHL but I'm definitely not surprised

The Flyers board was really into Hyka, sounds like they were high on him in camp, wonder what happened... Looks like a good pick, good potential.

As far as I remember, USHL is the same as Russians - can play at 18 in AHL. I think. I know for sure high schoolers can go right to the A. Forgot the rule on USHL.

IMO Prokhorkin will be much better. More physical, will fight, and I think he has a higher offensive upside.

Speed, vision and hands.
Hyka looked great at the Flyers' camp last year.
He will be the Gatineau Olympiques' best player this season with a legimate shot at finishing top point-getter in the Q.
If Gatineau can convince Tomas Hertl (and the Sharks) to come play with him, it will be quite a treat for us Olympiques' fans.

Yeah, this draft is clearly intended to address Manchester's needs for roster spots. Now I know why Kaunisto wasn't tendered

Why are you so obsessed with when a player was drafted? Round doesn't matter.

2012 Stanley Cup Champions drafted by Dean and played at least one playoff game: Doughty, Martinez, Voynov, Clifford, King, Lewis, Loktionov, Nolan and Bernier. 40% of the roster.

Simmonds and Schenn played every playoff game for Philly this season.

Yeah, realized my error, mistook 181 with 183 Sounds good. More for us in a better draft.

I just hope it doesn't mean they're giving up on Kitsyn.

Theoretically, we *could* have an all Russian line of Kitsyn - Lok - Porkins (if he plays RW).

No I said Hickey is the next upcoming NHL player. Dean's draft record is in fact great, look at the number of NHL players produced. The best player in the playoffs was drafted by Lombardi, the 2nd line center was obtained thru trade by players Lombardi drafted both are already in the NHL one of which projects as a top 6 center and one who already is a top 6 power forward, the 2nd line wing was obtained by a player Lombardi drafted who already got a shot at NHL and projects as a punishing shut-down defensman, two 3rd line wingers were drafted by Lombardi, both of which had terrific playoffs. The 4th line wing was also drafted by Lombardi and had a wonderful playoffs, appearences were made by two other forwards Lombardi drafted, the second pairing defensman was drafted by Lombardi as well as the third pairing defensman. The backup goalie was drafted by Lombardi as well.

x-x-x
acquired by Lombardi drafted player - acquired by Lombardi drafted players - x

Looks like NHL GM's think a lot more highly about Lombardi's drafting considering what his prospects netted than you do.

I'm sorry if prospects drafted 2-3 years ago aren't potting 30 goals yet though. I guess we'll have to settle for just being tied for first for pumping out NHL players over that timeframe.

It's kind of comical isn't it

I dislike Lombardi, but I can even give him his due at the draft table. If he doesn't draft Simmer/Schenn (might not have Richards)

Has he made mistakes ? You bet. But so has all other 29 GM's

Interview with Hyka:
http://video.oilers.nhl.com/videocen...id=0&id=180242

Some had projected him to go high, within the top two rounds. High end skill and speed.

Hyka may turn out to be a steal...I really liked what I saw when he was with the Flyers last training camp. He was very impressive

This is a pretty good outline of his skills, the plus's and minus's (mostly his size) from earlier this week:

I'm looking forward to seeing how he does at Kings camp

I'll try to explain this a bit better.

He was brought to prospect camp before the season, and then kept around into preseason. Someone told him that the team was ready to send him back to juniors, but the brilliant minds above wanted him to come back (I think he was on his wait to the airport) and sign him to a contract. Somewhere in there he played a preseason game (shown above). He was not yet eligible to be an undrafted free agent, so whoever the first guy was, was the one who knew that the hell he was doing.

Then it was later said by Holmgren that the Flyers intended on drafting him in the middle of last year's draft, and "forgot about him," until they had their last pick in the 7th round and were deciding between him and a goon (Derek Mathers), the latter no-talent guy was drafted and now signed. That's what annoyed the **** out of Flyers fans.
