No he didn't take a pay cut. He signed the same deal.

Just what are you actually offended about? Do you even know?

Radim Vrbata once thought the grass was greener too before realizing his mistake. Who bitterly wishes we left him to rot in Tampa? No way Tippett needed his 25-35 goals each season to get us into the post season, right?

I just remember that the Coyotes seemed to struggle defensively last season, when Klesla was out with injuries. Having Z back gives me confidence for the games in the coming season when Klesla cannot play.

Yup, the PK especially took a massive hit when Klesla went down. Definitely nice to have some reassurance that that will not be happening again.

Korpikoski-Gordon
Klesla-Michalek

looks like a good first penalty killing unit

Exactly. We've had a solid PK last year, and with Z coming back home I think it's only going to get better. Narrow the shot totals. As long as Smitty can play like he did this season, I really like our unit.

Now if only we could get some help up front. Still hoping for that trade involving Lombardi...I missed that dude more than Z.

Big picture...this is a big upgrade from Rozy. We made the team much better with this move, which is good since we're paying him $4m for 3 yrs

That's the best part. He comes home with a good contract. Huge upgrade from Rozy. I liked Rozy, but Z is one of my favorite players. Now we have Klesla, Z, Korpi and Gordon who will throw themselves in front of a puck. I love that

Zbynek Michalek was on 1.25 million per year during his four seasons as a Phoenix Coyote. In 2010, he became an unrestricted free agent, and signed for five years, twenty million, or 5 million per year. He had a limited no trade contract. He supplied a list of 8 clubs that he refused to be dealt to. Either Phoenix was not on that list, or he waived that part of the contract. Either way, he had could have chosen not to come to Phoenix. I'm not sure where this talk of not wanting to be here or taking a paycut are coming from. As I recall, when he signed for Pittsburgh, Maloney had some comments that it was more than they were willing to offer. How things change.

We've been looking for that since well, before the relocation to Phoenix.

Even if Rozsival leaves, the strange quota of 4 Czechs will still be satisfied.

Love this move!

More per year or more years? I could be wrong but I think it may have been the latter - more years than they were able to offer with the restrictions imposed from the NHL.

If I remember correctly. He was willing to sign for less here but when Don couldn't assure Z that he would be playing here after the season Z took off to a contender for even more money. Can't blame the guy. The D as a whole really suffered as a whole since he left I don't understande how anyone could be upset by this.

Yeah, I knew there was some issue with the contract, either money or length. I thought it was money. But he's definitely worth 4 million in today's NHL. He was integral and we've never been able to replace him . . . until now.

GMDM should be in jail for all the highway robberies he's committed.

I can see us moving a D man for an offensive player. We are so stacked, it's just not fair.

Reading through the Pit forum on this trade, it's no wonder a lot of Penguins fans are down on Z. A whole lot of them seem to have serious misconceptions about his game.

Are you saying Jovo, Upshall, Stempy, and a few others i can't name right now aren't apart of that gang as well??

Also, it seems Lombardi played his best hockey when he was paired with Upshall.

Does that mean that Maloney is going to trade for Uppie?
I could see a Stempy signing... (but I don't expect either)

**I should have posted it faster**
