Congrats

I'm Swedish and a MODO Hockey fan and I must say you are very lucky to get him. He always gives 110%, he's skilled and is also very good skater.

Habs is without a doubt the winners of this draft.

Congrats on being the WTF pick

BTW: John Westin has the experience of that and is/was on the same team.

What exactly makes him skilled? Is he a shooter, playmaker, a deker? Good vision?

How does he compare to John Westin?

From the draft board:

"Nyström is a much better skater and also alot more skilled than Westin. Only thing that is comparable is their very high workrate and good personality."

A speedy and technically skilled player with very good vision. Moves the puck impressively in high speed. Also a hardworking player. (EP 2012)
Interesting pick...the only pick we know nothing about!

Spoke with a Modo fan (Le Tigre) asking for a comparison of Erik Nystrom and 1st rounder Henrik Samuelsson. This is what he had to say.

Samuelsson on the other hand is a terrible skater and he didnt backcheck at all in MODO but perhaps Samuelsson needed more time to adjust to big rinks.

Also, when you look at how many points they put up you should know Samuelsson got to play alot (including pp time). Nyström didnt get many minutes and still put up as much + not being completely useless defensively.
He also said he would drop in with a full scouting report following the draft.

Insane speed, good vision and great wok ethic. Played solid in the few SEL-games he got to play last season and will be fighting to grab one of the last spots on the senior team next year.

A very exciting player to watch, with his speed and puck control he makes things happen almost every time he's on the ice.

I'll try to find some video footage of him later tonight.

Timmins said he went to see Samuelson and ended up having his eyes set on Nystrom. He watched him for 2 games then asked the Habs sweedish scout to follow him for the rest of the season. Defiantly not a random pick.

He also said he hopes he's gonna be their sleeper pick of the draft. Very interesting pick with the informations we now have on him.
