Salo

Any news? when is he expected to be back?

i don't think Conklin can do it all by himself.

Salo is an enigmna right now, he should have been back a long time ago. I think his injury is just not healing.

Just my opinion on this one but like I said a couple weeks ago I think this injury might be a phanton one. Another poster mentioned he was having marrital problems and to me the injury could be a cover for him taking some personal time to get stuff straightened out - if that is indeed the case. He got hooked from the Toronto game - and MacT didn't look impressed with his effort at all ever since he has had this misterious injury and their have been no updates. Don't you think the papers would be itching to update fans on their #1 goalies situation if it were an injury? I haven't heard anything. I personally still think Tommy is the man and is capable of being that top 10 in the league guy. He just needs to get his stuff straightened out - perferably sooner than later.

There is also no talk about Heatley's return... which means what?

Part of the problem is that Salo isn't even skating or practicing with the team, meaning that until he starts that, there isn't really anything in terms of news or updates.

There is a big difference between Dany Heatley's torn MCL/ACL and shoulder injuries than Tommy Salo's mystery injury. When did this injury occur? He got hooked from a game - did he hurt it getting back on the bus? A day-to-day groin pull cannot be compared at all toa season ending knee surgery. Don't see the comparison at all.

Tommy isn't day to day, he is on the IR and out indefinietely. Day to day implies that they look at the situation every day, and re-evaluate. That isn't the case with Salo. The comparison was just because there isn't a daily news story, it doesn't mean there is no injury... it just means that there is nothing to talk about at the time. It had nothing to do with comparing the 2 injuries, just to try and kill a conspiracy theory before it blows out of proportion.

I for one am glad that I am not seeing a report every day about salo going 2% farther on a stretch... it's bad enough we get this crap in Toronto where we read a full 2 page spread every 3 days about how they don't know what is wrong with Niewendyk.

The injury was caused during the bag skate, and got progressively worse the more Salo played.

I can't remember if it was on Sportsnet but I do recall seeing an interview with Tommy where he was in this wierd brace-type contraption lying on a table. That might give some credence to his injury.

It was TSN.

There also aren't any updates on Reasoner either. When players are out indefinitely like Salo and Reasoner, the team doesn't update the status of the player.

Didn't Hasek almost miss an entire season with a pulled groin. Salo has a pulled groin plus a hip injury.
