and Tampa takes Gusev. They gambled on Russians last year didn't they?
That hard part with getting late round Russians is that it's really hard to bring them over because ELC's are less than what they can make KHL if they are good. They reallly have to want to play NHL to come. Emelin could have probably stayed in Russia last year and made more money and had more ice time KHL.

Chances are whoever you wanted to pick with the last two picks never make it to the NHL. 5th and 6th rounders aren't sure fire NHLers

Andrew Ryan not being picked is stunning for me. I hope we get him at the dev. camp.

I seriously shocked Ebert will likely go undrafted. I knew he fell quite a bit, but I guess I didn't realize just how much.

Tyrel Seaman was born in Choiceland, SK. What a wacky town name.

Spoke with a Modo fan (Le Tigre) asking for a comparison of Erik Nystrom and 1st rounder Henrik Samuelsson. This is what he had to say.

Samuelsson on the other hand is a terrible skater and he didnt backcheck at all in MODO but perhaps Samuelsson needed more time to adjust to big rinks.

Also, when you look at how many points they put up you should know Samuelsson got to play alot (including pp time). Nyström didnt get many minutes and still put up as much + not being completely useless defensively.

Do you expect sure fire NHLers with late picks? Players who become decent AHLers are good late round pick.

At some point its better picking unknown guys that scouts have good report on than higher ranked known guys that dropped many rounds because they have glaring issues.

The chances of ending up with a quality NHL player as late as it is are pretty small though so the opportunity cost is pretty damn low.

Habs had a terrific draft though. Not like Timmins was drafting goons rather than rolling the dice so I can't complain at all.

very happy for him, I think he could be a big time steal. Should get lots of ice time next year in Cape Breton.

At round 5 & 6 , there were some pretty solid goalies available, good enough to be solid NHL backups at least.

Lazy and must have botched the team interviews? Or slept with the scouts daughter? Man his ego must have taken a blow today.

Ebert falling reminds me of Robbie Earl. Can't wait to see what happens.

I think a few teams went overboard for depth toughness over guys that could be 1st or 2nd liners...Matteau Wilson Moroz were big reaches IMHO with much more skilled players still there.

So who wasn't drafted who was worth a look?

I was kind of hoping Hache and Ebert would be available for camp.
