Time to compare my picks with the Bolts with what went down...

10. Griffin Reinhart - drafted 4th by NYI (+5)
23. Slater Koekkoek - drafted 10th by TB (+13)
37. Daniil Zharkov - drafted 91st by EDM (-57)
40. Tim Bozon - drafted 64th by MTL (-24)
47. Charles Hudon - drafted 122nd by MTL (-75)
56. Joonas Korpisalo - drafted 62nd by CBJ (-6)
71. Tanner Richard - drafted 71st by TB (E)
101. Niklas Tikkinen - drafted 148th by PHX (-47)
131. Cedric Paquette - drafted 101st by TB (+30)
161. Alexander Delnov - drafted 114th by FLA (+47)

So three guys I picked with Tampa went on to actually be drafted by Tampa...including Richard, who went where I picked him. Pretty good draft for me.

My run as the Wild GM...

7. Jacob Trouba - Drafted 9th
41. Tanner Pearson - Drafted 30th
68. Esa Lindell - Drafted 74th
98. Kevin Roy - Drafted 97th
128. Francois Tremblay - Drafted 146th
158. Vince Hinostroza - Drafted 169th
188. Jesse Graham - Drafted 155

So Trouba dropped by two, because of Dumba. Pearson appears to be a steal. Lindell, Tremblay and Hinostroza were all selected a bit high. Roy was selected just around the marker. Graham also a nice steal in the last round.

I also worked as the Assistant GM for Chicago, which my picks were...

112. Austin Czarnik - Undrafted (Booooo)
142. Gianluca Curcuruto - Drafted 182nd
150. Josh Anderson - Drafted 95th
172. Christoph Bertschy - Drafted 158th
202. Matt Grzelcyk - Drafted 85th

Sucks that Czarnik wasn't taken and that Curcuruto dropped to the 7th round but I killed it with my last three picks here.

87. James Melindy
106. Samuel Kurker
136. Matej Beran
166. Devin Tringale
196. Erik Nemec

Finn was not my selection and if I was in control at that point, I would have went with Hertl. When I took control of Ottawa, I was ecstatic because I was able to select one of my favorite players in the draft in Robbie Baillargeon. James Melindy could end up with the same developmental path we seen out of Morgan Ellis. Samuel Kurker is a real boom or bust selection that I like. Matej Beran is big, he is foreing and he scored quite a bit in the Q, a legitimate prospect. Getting Tringale in the 6th was the steal for me. This guy will be a clutch 3rd liner in the league. Nemec was a dark horse pick, taking a PPG guy from the Czech junior league who has a decent frame.
Finn wasnt my pick, he went 35 to Toronto -20.
Baillargeon was picked by the Sens, but went 136. -60.
Melindy at 87 he went 88. -1
Got Kurker at 106 he went 56 +50
Matej Beran at 136, went undrafted -infinity
Devin tringale at 166, undrafted -infinity
Erik Nemec, undrafted -infinity

Melindy and Kurker were my only picks that seemed to go where projected or ahead of projection.

26th: Nicolas Kerdiles
42: Jarrod Maidens
44. Michael Matheson
73: Emil Lundberg
133: Paul De Jersey
163: Patrik Bartosak
193: Jay Dickman
198: Edwin Hedberg

I really like what I managed to do with Buffalo this year. I had a lot of picks which really made it nice. I got one of the most skilled players in the draft with Collberg. I added a guy who I think is a player you win with in Kerdiles. I added big bodies with offensive potential in Maidens, Dickman, Emil Lundberg and Paul De Jersey. Matheson could team up with Myers on the PP in Buffalo in the future and make a really mean 1st PP unit. Finally, Bartosak is one of my favorite goalies in the draft, limited exposure, good numbers and I think he would be ranked higher if he played a full season.
Collberg went 33.. -21
Kerdiles went 36 -10
Maidens went 82 -40
Matheson went in the first round +21
Lundberg undrafted - forever x infinity
Paul De Jersey - undrafted
the rest undrafted..

I was a big bust this year.

9. Morgan Rielly - Drafted 5th.
39. Andreas Athanasiou - Drafted 110th.
70. Devin Shore - Drafted 61st.
130. Brian Cooper - Drafted 127th.
160. Frank Vatrano - Undrafted
190. Miro Aaltonen - Undrafted

That AA pick wasn't so good.. Time will tell though, I suppose.

Was bang on with Rielly, Shore, and Cooper.

Here's how Grant and I fared with our Red Wings picks:

:

No pick in the first round.

2nd round: Patrick Sieloff with the 53rd pick. He went 42nd to the Flames. He was my pick. (+11)
3rd round: Teodors Blugers with the 84th pick. He went 52nd to the Penguins. My pick. (+32)
4th round: Ben Johnson with the 114th pick. He went 90th to the Devils. Grant's pick. (+24)
5th round: Jake Patterson with the 144th pick. He went 80th to the Wings. Grant's pick. (+64)
6th round: Austin Wuthrich with the 174th pick. He went undrafted. Coincidentally, Grant and I missed the selection. (- ... whatever)
7th round: Jordan Martinook with the 204th pick. He went 58th to Pheonix. My pick. (+146)

My tally: +182 (3 picks)
Grant's tally: +88 (2 picks) and he got Patterson to Detroit right, albeit a round later.
Total: +270 (I didn't count Wuthrich because neither Grant or I had a say in this pick, but feel free to deduct whatever score you want for it)

I gotta say, pretty spectacular draft for us considering Detroit didn't have a first round pick. Really maximized the picks. Still can't believe Martinook fell all the way to the 7th round in this mock. Can't wait for next year!

I made the Wuthrich selection and I believe he went...107 to Washington

1-13-Olli Maatta went 22 to Pittsburgh -9
2-43-Mark Jankowksi went 21 to Calgary +22
3-48-Mike Winther went 54 to Dallas -6
3-74-Dylan Blujus went 40 to Tampa Bay +34
4-104-Mitch Moroz went 32 to Edmonton +72
5-134-John Draeger went 68 to Minnesota +70
5-138-Hunter Fejes went 178 to Phoenix -40
7-188-Louie Nanne went 188 to Minnesota This is like prophetic or something. GMs are lurking in the mock draft.

The two players I was whining about missing, Beran and DeJersey, went undrafted

Yeah like I said in my blurb on Hudon, I knew he was never going to go that early in real life, but I had 4 second rounders and wanted to make sure I didn't miss him. A player I really, really like.

So he was a reach, but he wasn't a Slepyshev, which will be the new standard by which all other reaches in the mock draft will be judged

I hate you all....

Just watch as Slepyshev DESTROYS the league.....the KHL that is. Note that there was a disclaimer on my pick though...I should have put an asterisk or 2....

I'm really not looking forward to my "grade" on this one, since it starts off pretty bad right from Grigorenko, and doesn't get better with Frk, lol. Still stand by those picks, even the dark horse later rounders!!

edit: just thought about picking McGinn (47th overall) with the 127th pick, so maybe it won't be sooo bad, lol.

Clearly, I'm really expecting Habsfan18 to remember this and San Jose will be removed when it's going to be my turn...hey I deserve it I guess...

But, and it's not like I'm defending myself.....but I do....you all know that he IS a 1st round talent. The fact that he went undrafted totally means there's something else that I wasn't aware of..

Hey...I just found something that prooves my theory....I wasn't the only one that thought he was a great talent....The mock draft from a site we can't name here for whatever reason "bleacher" had us 3 1st rounders plus Slepyshev at 41.

Oh and another mock draft that also says that we got ourselves 3 1st rounders...(not the same ones though, replace Thrower by Bozon) and look who is #17....

Oh, he's totally a 1st round talent. Maybe even top half. But there was no chance that the most promising young player, captain of the U-18 team, and 1st overall pick in the KHL draft, was leaving Russia (and his contract). In your defense, Central Scouting still had him listed (top 10 European skater, no less), but having already played a full season with Mettalurg, teams obviously found out that he likely wouldn't be interested in coming over unless interest was much, much higher.

Yet....do we know for sure that he's NEVER to come here? Why not pick him in a late pick at worst....you keep the rights to him anyway. Makes no sense to me. Even if a guy tells you I have no interest in playing in the NHL never...you use your 7th round that way.
