Who will draft Nikita Gusev and where?

Undrafted Nikita Gusev turned heads at the 2011 Subway Superseries and World Juniors in Canada. He displayed an amazing puck handling skills, unmatched passing abilities. Accoridng to my information Tampa was interested in him and offered him a way to Tampa via a CHL team but he refused even though he maintained his interest in the NHL itself.

Where and when will he be drafted?

I think he can go anywhere from mid 3rd round to as low as the 6th round. Can't say who will take him, but I guess since Washington has no fear of drafting Russians they seem to be the best guy to predict, though that doesn't mean much. Everything past pick 60 is basically a crapshoot as far as predictions go.

TBL.

They already have Kucherov and Namestnikov. Clearly the Russian factor doesn't scare SFY.

lol. Gusev would've destroyed the CHL.

Saying that, (despite his talent) he's still a 1992 undersized Russian who refused to go to the CHL.
I can't see him being taken before the 4th round.

The kid has HANDS. There is no escaping that fact.
He has a knack for disappearing at times though. He will need a couple years to develop before getting a serious taste of the NHL.
I believe when he says he has interest in the NHL, but I question how he's going to feel after a couple years of being asked to play in the minors, especially after already turning down the CHL. If he really doesn't like the AHL, getting some development in the MHL or KHL would be great for him, but there'd be no guarantee he'd come back.

TL;DR Regardless of where, he's gonna need some Pro experience before jumping into the NHL, if he wants to come.

I watched him fairly closely during the last couple of games of the WJ's. A force on the the ice in terms of puck-handling. Seems to be really skilled.

He is a little small and I believe is playing in Russia Jrs so there is that "Russian Factor." I would say 3rd or 4th round.

For anybody who's interested. Might have the best chance of becoming a late round steal.

hopefully he plays in the khl next year and he will use that season as a try out for the nhl, unless he wants to play in the ahl which is unlikely

In the future he can be that winger for Stamkos MSL is/was. I mean he is a really mean playmaker. In the soviet hockey style. And he's bigger than Marty, btw.

Doesn't mean much, depends on heart and how hard he wants to work.

Wow, Tampa grabbed him in the last round. Yzerman really really liked the kid but it will be hard to move Gusev to North America.

Hopefully we can use them to get both he and Kucherov to come over as a package.

Kucherov should be coming to the CHL next year in order to join Tampa for 2013-2014 season. Not so sure when Gusev can join since he has a contract with CSKA.
