Dunno anything about him, but it’s a project pick and there’s definite hockey bloodline (hopefully minus the wussyness).

Wow, Dorion really likes him. That's enough for me.

I liked that we took the hometown kid.
I LOVE the idea of spite picks!!!

Max Domi, you say? Does Tucker have a kid!?!??!?!

Dorion's judgement + the real likelihood the kid grows + the player BB became after getting better coaching (skating) = good enough for me.

Wait, isn't the Beanpot a tournament between Harvard, Boston College, Boston U and Northeastern? How would Jankowski and Boyle been in that?

High school version of it that I haven't found yet I guess?

I wouldn't know, but does anyone have any idea of the quality of the Union College hockey program?

Pick seemed kind of out of the blue but from Dorion's comments and their other scouts' comments it looks like they really liked the kid.

project dman, reassess in 3 years.

If the scouts like him, they probably think he can be something in a while, but it's going to take a while before we know what we have.

They went to Frozen Four this year, so it's pretty good to say the least.

and yet, it's likely some other team thought the same and was planning on taking him in the 4th round to be safe. They're screwed now if he DOES turn into any sort of NHL player aren't they? (Screwed in a sense they didn't get to pick him at all).

Maybe they picked him solely for mild comedic value?

If you listen to the Dorion clip, he mentions that they were scouting another guy and both times they found Boyle was the best guy on the ice, so they followed up.

A good friend of mine has played a decent amount against Boyle and Baillargeon. He's a really good player who will play pro and likely would have been drafted if he was a bit bigger (not my opinion, but the opinion of an NHL GM). He played against Baillargeon 2 years ago and Boyle the past two years. Anyways, he says Baillargeon is a good offensive player but not nearly as solid as his stats make him out to be. Sort of a textbook player who is more of a complimentary player than a spearhead. Doesn't see him having NHL skill.

As for Boyle, he said that Boyle has a really good chance of being a player. Solid, mistake free guy who can play bigger than his size and really dominate a game. Maybe went a bit too high but the Sens thinking he's worth that pick makes him think he has a pretty decent chance at being a bottom pairing D. Really, there was nothing bad he could say about him and he definitely is a guy who has a solid shot if he keeps working his ass off.

It is clear that Pierre Dorion likes to reward the scouts for their work by spreading the picks out. Picks this year from the USHL, QMJL, OHL, WHL, and Europe. During TM's interview after the draft he stated that after round 3 or so they listen to the scouts and draft whoever they are pasionate about. Similarly PD makes sure the scouts get camera time after the draft to talk about their picks. This is leadership at the managment level and helps account for the excellence of the Sens drafting level. They get good scouts, pay them well and listen to them. This is the life blood of this team.
