Is there anyone you wished we drafted instead or surprised we got? I thought Thrower was the biggest surprise as he was STILL available when we picked him,
I give it A-. If we had got a good goalie been perfect

Well neither were there. Mallet went 57th overall and Paquette went 101st.

Definitely an A or A+. Habs did an excellent job of holding steady and letting their guys fall to them.

Galchenyuk was the obvious pick if he was there. Could end up a #1 center, at worst will be a great #2. Another year in the OHL to dominate and be without Yakupov is what he needs, and we'll all have a better grasp on him in a year.

Collberg at 33 is an absolute steal. If there was a forward run instead of a D run he very well could have gone in the top 12. He's a surefire top 6 sniper IMO.

Thrower with Nashville pick is extremely solid. He'll be an NHLer, somewhere between a great 2nd pairing guy, or a solid bottom pairing guy. 2 way type with tons of toughness.

Bozon is somewhat of a boom or bust. The fact he was a PPG player his first year in NA tells you that he has talent, and when you watch him you see that he has all the ingredients to be a top 6 forward. Needs to develop more physically though.

Vail is a safe pick, and looks like a good bet to be a good bottom 6 type forward, and after getting Galchenyuk, Collberg, and Bozon that was a bit of a need.

Hudon I didn't see much of but sounds like a boom or bust type and he's a Montreal native.

Nystrom is intriguing.

Alex Galchenyuk: A+ / The prospect I wanted
Sebastian Collberg: A / As far as hands go, a top 5 pair of the draft
Dalton Thrower: A / Solid 2 way defense man, and right handed. Bouillon v.3?
Tim Bozon: A+ / Another prospect I wanted. I see the kind of Begin that can play on a top 6, v.3
Brady Vail: B- / I'm thinking project. A somewhat big center that could surprise a lot.
Charles Hudon: C+ / The Q pick, definitely a project and a gamble. Talented sure.
Erik Nystrom: C- / I don't really get the sleeper or WTF picks and no Halak wasn't one and neither was Sergei. This pick is like the Petteri Simila & John Westin picks

I think much of his pick is based on personality and character as much as it has to do with his skill set. Bozon is the type of guy the Leafs or Senators usually grab up. Montreal is quite lucky to have him.
Again, there's only 2 picks I am not an incredible fan of and it's Hudon and Nystrom. And Nystrom it's because I don' tknow him. Not going to pretend that I do. But Hudon I have seen a lot, I didn't see a progression from his rookie year which is a BIG no-no usually. But at 5...he might be a good bet. I would have went other ways though...clearly. Just like the Archambault pick last year. So I do like Bozon very much. Yet, the point is to get significantly bigger. Not to a point where you pick a Moroz in round 2 which has to be one of the dumbest thing ever. But there was ways to do it. And looking at everyboyd, they only way we would have been able to do ti 'could have been around Bozon.

But I'm a big fan of this draft. I don't remember the year when I graded Timmins and Co that high. People will learn about Brady Vail quite soon. But my difference between A- and A is just the physical aspect overall of the draft. 'Cause the skills it's A++.....Great draft nonetheless. It was as if Timmins was reading HF or something...

I'd say A+, at the first fourth draft spot they drafted exactly the guy left i wanted, afterward i didn't know much and since guys like Hudon are such a reach i can't realy cheer for them to get picked.

The Habs killed it in the 2012 draft. Best value in positions of need

Whietsnake, the average height of the drafted players is 6' ... I don't see a problem considering they're all forwards and the 1 dman is built like a tank at 6' as well.

The obsession with 6'3 and 6'4 skaters is nice but there are limits.

I know that.

These guys were not supposed to be taken that high.

but at round 5, instead of Hudon, I would had gone with any of the vailable goalies out of the Q, like Whitney for example.

Loved the draft other than Hudon .. meh there

Nystrom - ?? inclusive. But when Trevor Timmins says he is his sleeper pick for the draft, I take that very seriously. The man has the golden touch for these things.

Sens fan here (although I was an MTL fan before we got a team):

I have to say A+. This reminds me so much of the Sens draft last year where you walk away with a number of a legit prospects to be big NHL contributors. Galchenyuk/Collberg/Thrower/Bozon. Ridiculous. 3 guys who could have been a 1st round pick...maybe 4.

Wow.....best drafting team this year, for sure.

Me too. But hopefully they can sign an undrafted one or go on the UFA market to find a guy who could be a starter in Hamilton and a solid backup if needs be in Montreal.

We definitely need to select one next year. I hope for Hamilton's sake that they are going to acquire a decent free agent fix for the time being.

I've mentionned it before but Étienne Marcoux has to be invited by the Habs. I like him better than both François (Tremblay and Brassard).

I'd switch Leblanc with Kristo (I blame this on your obvious anti-french bias ) but otherwise very solid list and amazing future ahead. And we have 3 second rounders next year too, it really bodes well for the next 5 or so years.

Bergevin should make sure Timmins has at least two second rounders every year, we'd have the best prospect pool every year.

This draft has the potential to be Trevor Timmins' Magnum Opus. He really got it done today, and I think this draft has the potential to upset his 2007 effort which was phenomenal as we all know.

I have to give this draft an A+. Timmins turned a first, two seconds, and a third into two firsts, and two early/mid seconds, and all 4 of the first players have chances to not only be players in the NHL, but very good, to great players in the NHL.

The rest of the players, I feel like he did a good job. I like the vail selection, Hudon, for a token Quebecois has a decent shot and something to bring to the table offensively, and apparently Nystrom was a good pick as well.

Overall, we got players who can score goals, and play roles. Our bleak offensive prospect pool just took a big jump in 2 days.
