If the Rangers are indeed offering 1,8 mil per he and his agent are complete fools not to accept the offer. I like Prust and what he brings to our PK but even 1,8 mil per sounds a bit too high. Though I like him enough to accept the deal.

Brandon Prust is not worth more than 1.2 mil a year...he wants nearly double what he is worth. Love the guy, but kthxbai.

I would not give him a three year deal. I would not give him a shorter term deal at $1.8 million per, so I'm hoping he sticks to his guns and walks.

Good teammate, but extremely replaceable.

prust was great. a great locker room guy, and a guy perfect for tortorella's system but at that price, there are many other similar players to him. i know we all grew to love him but he is one of those players who could easily be replaced

I personally wouldn't go higher than 1.2-1.4 per year for Prust. Its a thin market, I can see some team overpaying 500-600k for him. I bet he will sign for 2million per year.

Rangers need to replace Prust with a speedy forward. Boyle and Rupp are painfully slow.

On the hockey side of it, Prust was absolutely atrocious this year. I know he's a fourth liner, but is it too much to ask to look where you're passing? Many times would he just pass the puck blindly in the middle of the ice, turn it over, and then we'd be stuck defending for minutes on end. Good PK/energy/tough guy, but he seems to think he's not easily replaceable, which is very far from the truth.

I just hope Sather can find someone fast. Prust was the only fourth liner on our team with some wheels.

Just saw the tweet.

Bush league ****.

I wish YOU wanted to come back enough to realize you're not a 2.2 million dollar player.

Bad stuff. Way to leave an awful impression on your way out. Peace.

Yeah, I think that was an unnecessary shot at management. The contract they offered him was more than fair, overpayment if anything.

I'm actually curious to see who'll step up next year. Maybe we'll have third and fourth lines that can actually score.

I wish Prust and his agent understood how replaceable his skill set is. Had his contract year been the season before, he would have some justification for a 2.2 but he played rather poorly this year and I can live without his 5 goals.

Really like Prust but if he won't back down from that 2.2M then I'll have no problem watching him sign with another team.

Now watch him sign with Pittsburgh, score 25 goals, and single-handedly destroy our team any chance he gets.

Sather referred to Biron as someone “we like,” and called Fedotenko “a great citizen for us” who “worked hard — I like him a lot.”

On Friday, Sather said Prust was seeking a big raise from his salary last season of $800,000. “I don’t think we’re going to get that one done,” Sather said Friday.

But on Saturday, Sather said that Prust and Fedotenko “have an opportunity to see what their value is” on the free-agent market. “Let’s see how that works out,” he said.

Sather is not shutting the door on Prust.

Would like him back but not for what he's supposedly asking for. Maybe he comes back if there are no other teams out there willing to give him what he wants. He was a good role player for this team.

I hope he doesn't come to his senses because even $1.8 million is too much for him. $1.5 max.

he wasn't the only one doing that. I think with a behind-the-net grind it out kind of game they play there is going to be some blind passing but the Rangers seemed to do it way too often (leading to rushes going the other way).

Agreed.

(Hell, I think even that is too much based on play alone - $1.2MM sounds more like it - but I'd be willing to go another $300K for chemistry/lockerroom reasons.)

I'm talking about him doing that in the neutral zone, which is way worse. He frequently made bad passes through the middle in the NZ. That's just unacceptable.

2.2 for a precious 5 goals, good PK work, and fighting?

No thanks.

He brings more to the table than Rupp, who scored only two goals and couldn't fight his way out of a wet paper bag.

Prust hits, fights, kills penalties. $1.7 per shouldn't be balked at.
