Better to get a low pick for him than nothing. Not sure if the Bruins are interested in signing Ouellet.
Probably not.

No I didn't, glad he is gone. Decent skills but even his two miracle goals last season seemed more like accidents that worked out. Alright bottom 6 guys at least, but not good enough for our 3rd line.

Glad we got something for him at least.

He's an rfa so there is no rush for TB. I liked him in his role with the B's but many B's fans couldn't stand him.

Pouliot's story is so sad. He has all the skills to be a great player but he keeps disappointing.

RFA if TB qualifies him at $1.1, I suppose they are comfortable offering that but Boston clearly wasn't.

Probably the case that Pouliot was expecting a lot more than 1.1 million. He did have a career year and was probably wanting at least 1.5 million and Boston just wasn't interested.
Chia should have been able to get more than a 5th round pick and Neely eluded to the fact that they could have got more but maybe with a strong division rival.

Don't worry, I don't think any of us think he was brought in to replace Stamkos, Lecavalier, St. Louis, Malone, etc.

Just looking for someone who can hopefully replace Bergenheim on the bottom 6. Doesn't have to be spectacular so a 5th isn't that bad. Ouellet didn't do anything when he was with us the first time and really didn't produce last year in the AHL although he was injured most of the season.

Essentially we paid a 5th for a bottom 6 forward that can play in the NHL and gave up a forward that can't.

We weren't going to sign him, would have got nothing if this wasn't pulled off.

He was only paid $1.1m, and he scored 16 goals, and showed up in the playoffs, which is more than 3/4ths of the roster can say. He did his job, and then some. I wish him luck in Tampa. He shows flashes of why he was picked 4th overall, he has the talent, but not the consistency.

I guess this means that Boston is convinced that Jordan Caron is ready for a full-time spot on the 3rd line with Kelly and Peverley.

Damn I wanted Pouliot on the Ducks! Tampa fans will like him. I've watched him while at school in Boston. Solid player, and will chip in with offense

Seriously. It isn't like we're throwing a parade for the guy. He's a good pickup for the role the Lightning plan to have him fill.

3rd line is where he'll be most of the time but he'll fill in top 6 when we have injuries. He can have a Purcell like breakout and push a Brown/Connolly to bottom 6 and play with Vinny.

Pouliot will have his dumb-as-bricks moments. You'll see and you will gnash your teeth, and it be at critical moments too. Enjoy this loser, Tampa.

Bambi looked good at times with Boston and other times...well, there's a reason why the nickname fits.

That is exactly what you guys should be expecting.

Habs fans told us that Pouliot didn't put in the effort needed to be an NHL player consistently but that is no longer the case, he works hard every night. So far he just hasn't been anything more than a 3rd line player. You guys could do a heck of a lot worse than having Benoit Pouliot as your 3rd line left wing.

For 1.1 million, he was pretty good. For a 4th overall pick, he was pretty terrible. Just have to set your expectations at the right level and he'll probably work out pretty well for you.

He's excellent in a padded role
Don't expect him to be anything more than a depth forward
He also has the amazing ability to get penalties at the worst possible times

He brought a decent game to boston. for his totals and his cap hit he was well worth the money and salary. He can be incredibly frustrating to watch, as he has the talent and shows it sometimes, but the consistency just isn't there. I think TB will be happy considering hes a cheap 3rd liner that will give you 10+ goals and ~30 points. Just cut him slack because he has a lot of mental lapses and mistakes that can drive you insane.

It will be interesting to see how he does under Boucher. He (the coach) is a taskmaster and is very demanding and may have a style that will bring out the best in Pouliot, similar to what has happened with Purcell. Consistency was his biggest flaw and Boucher's gone a long way to pounding that out of him.
