I think Tinordi is well placed on his list. Although I'm sure your list is closer to the consensus, I beleive Tinordi will have a hard time making an impact at the NHL level.

In terms of hunches (even less informed than opinions), I am not thrilled with Beaulieu. I think it was whitesnake who at one time, at least, mentioned Hainsey. I get the same association. Objectively, a very impressive package, but something just missing that separates really good hockey players from players with good or even superior hockey attributes.

In any event, I'm in no rush to condemn him. At least another year of development.

Agree, and yea, I still have him as the #4 prospect in the organization. Just like Galchenyuk, Tinordi, and Collberg better.

I agree that the Hainsey comparison are scary.. But Beaulieu has time to grow, his Dad knows hockey and he comes from a system that showed their player how to win (Stack a team with NHL player in the Q ? Trolling.)

Why do you say that? I see Leblanc as a 25-25 type, I feel that's an appropriate spot for him.

Regardless

1-Galchenyuk 8.5C
2-Tinordi-8C
3-Beaulieu-8C
4-Leblanc-7.5B
5-Gallagher-7.5B
6-Collberg-7.5C
7-Ellis-7.0B
8-Kristo-7.0C
9-Holland7.0C
10-Thrower-6.5C

Also just like to point out to people, Consider only the players on our team who are 25 and younger,

I feel very comfortable moving forward at center now with Galchenyuk, Desharnais and Eller. Plekanec will be the perfect stop gap until Galchenyuk is good to take over the first line duties. We can decide what to do with him after that

Care to explain in what way he was a disappointment that isn't something that proper coaching and developing can help?

Proper coaching??? Didn't they just hire his junior head coach to be an assistant behind the Habs bench???

One of the two things have to give in this instance. BTW, a D-man who struggles to skate backwards at this age is somewhat troublesome IMO!!!

But does Beaulieu actually struggle to skate backwards?

I saw a lot of him in the OHL in his first year and just hated the pick. He was not very good, IMO. He progressed incredibly this year though and I'm now comfortable with him. He jumped over Quailer who I've always ranked highly. I was undecided who I liked more between Ellis and Tinordi but ranked Ellis higher because I had him higher in my last top-10.

I'm ridiculously high on Bournival, so being behind him isn't a bad thing.

I'm really high on the top-14 prospects plus St-Denis if you still consider him one.

Nathan Beaulieu: Silky smooth skater, whose style reminds me of a Scott Niedermayer. He has a good shot, more accurate than forceful. However, on day two, I had concerns on his backwards skating, where he fell back into the pack instead of standing out. His balance was also brought into question, as he was one of the wobblier blueliners on a lot of one-legged turning drills. A gifted athlete, but he’s going to need time before becoming an NHL fixture. And that’s without getting into the maturity and mental game issues that seem to follow him around on- and off-ice.

As for Tinordi :

Jarred Tinordi: The biggest man in camp, Tinordi moves well for a player of his size. His long, powerful strides are impressive, and looks the polar opposite of Beaulieu when it comes to skating backwards. Beaulieu makes himself small, knees bent inwards, while Tinordi has a wide stance, knees out, covering a lot of ice very quickly. I maintain that his offensive game could surprise many; he knows his way to the net and has a decent shot, even if it’s often off-target. He was the clear leader on the ice on the first day of camp, talking to others frequently, particularly to Beaulieu.

I have seen Ellis play for 25 games this season, he has been better then Gormley, and Gormley has been good. He can do everything very well. Habs fans dont know yet how good this guy will be. Cant wait for next training camp.
