While I love Schenn and wanted him on this team, I knew JVR was going to be the piece going back, I certainly figured we'd be getting atleast a 2nd rounder or decent/good prospect with him.

Anahiem would like want Voracek, Simmonds/Read, 2013 1st.... which is reasonable for Bobby Ryan, but can we honestly afford to do a 2 for 1 winger deal now that we've dealt JVR?
Resign Jagr for another year...

That's the thing...we needed D and it seemed JVR was the only tradeable asset we were willing to part with. Everybody was holding out for Schenn and Couts...hopefully they still stick around although I'm certain Couts will now probably Braydon as well now that Luke is on the team. Guess the last bro combination we had was Rich and Ron Sutter.......

But for what? It'd be sick to acquire Luke only to turn and trade Brayden.. Maybe voracek and a 1st and 2nd?

Great trade for the Flyers. I know many will disagree but I am sure the tune will change with a year or so. He'll be a stud for the Flyers on the backend, and could grow into a top pairing Dman like projected.

Man, Flyers keep on getting scarier and scarier each year...

P.S. I am an Av fan who lived in Toronto for 4 years. Don't let my avy fool you into thinking I am a leaf fan lol.

If we learned anything from the draft today, a 2nd rounder isn't all that good and most certainly shouldn't be a deal breaker.

That's really not a solution and certainly not one that shows any amount of longterm thought.

It's a good value deal that fits each teams needs.

Or if you'd prefer a different attitude, the Flyers have traded Eric Lindros reincarnate for a plug.

I'm not sure why everyone said JVR had better value than Schenn. They've had similar problems to date and it's mainly to do with consistency.

They are both young and full of unreached potential.

Does anyone think the Flyers were concerned about JvR's injury history?

I like that Schenn blocks shots and is RH, who do you think he plays with?

With jvr gone, I actually don't see that happening anymore.

But I may be wrong.

That's wayyyyy too much. Voracek is younger, and is already a 50 point player. Ryan is only a 60-65 point player, then to throw in two top picks? Nah. Ducks just need to bring their ****ing price down. Ryan has already backed them into a corner, and now they're swinging at other GMs with sticks trying to get a silly return that'll probably never come.

I can't believe that actually gets it done for Ryan even under the circumstances.

Is those one of those instances where the whole JVR to Schenn thing calms down so much that the trade actually happens and we get blind sided like crazy?

You'd really have to be an idiot to sign a long term deal with the Flyers now.

'08 drafted 5th overall, 22 years old, 310 career games. Physical right-handed defensemen who will obviously love being here and playing with his brother. Expect the Schenn brothers to do really, really well here.

JVR was expendable. Now we only have 2 forwards who make over $4mil.

Not every player on a team needs to be long term... Fills a hole for a season while you weigh up the options.

Voracek and Jagr back, I bet. Hopefully this means Carle walks, and we get another top-4 guy. Maybe Holmgren is going for depth as opposed to top-end talent on D?
