Shame Gillis didn't make the rumoured Schenn deal yesterday.
It is hard to say if JVR would be used to get Luongo. Until I hear Burke talk about him he could be in play, but because this is a rumoured deal long before Luongo was available I doubt he would be included in any deal.

I don't think JVR was available yesterday... call it a hunch but I storngly believe Bobby Ryan is on the way to Philly now and they just wanted to off load some forwards.

I can't see Burke trading JVR... Burke is more likely to try to unload roster scraps to make room for JVR, than offer JVR... I don't think a deal for Luongo gets done with Toronto...
I don't think offers work like that. I would imagine TOR offered Schenn, Gillis thinking he has enough blueline depth and needs a scoring touch, says "no". Burke phones philly and pitches them after they heard bobby ryan wants to come to philly.
We don't need JVR on our team. We already have 2nd/3rd line tweeners in Raymond and Booth. Just because he's big doesn't mean he hits a lot. Not the player we need and comes with a hefty cap hit.
Raymond is garbage and has been since his one good season. The injury excuse only goes so far but he is certainly inferior to JVR, who has much better potential. His cap is not that bad when you consider we would drop Raymond.

Oh, I doubt it happens but seeing someone asked if we would make the trade. I answered. Hard to say what happens with Luongo now.

Just the type of player Gillis likes, however, at 4.25 million we'd have 27.7 millions on the top 2 lines... that's hefty for sure....
But if JVR lives up to potential will be a very good asset for you guys. We'll see, maybe this get's gillis calling?

At least Raymond has had a good season. JVR is still living off his draft position. He is not the player he was touted to be.

JVR is what our organization needs, the "scraps" won't get it done.

Ya, as soon as Burke makes any mention of him and what he brings he is off the table. No way he flips him if he did say something.
Also based on the Tsn video DraftCentre: Next on the List?, it looks like Burke is frustrated and Gillis is playing hard ball. It really seems like a deal is not going to happen at least with the Leafs.
