Leafs fan here. Luke Schenn's style of play fits the image of the Flyers very well. Hits everything that moves and still has untapped offensive potential. If you guys can get him to stop using both hands on the stick like a robot and he sheds some weight and gains back his mobility, he'll be awesome for you.

Anyone here have a good bio on JVR? You know, as in his strengths and weaknesses.

Agreed. This is one thing I think people underestimate about Burke and other GM's sometimes.

These guys want to make true hockey trades and this was one of them. I think this is a very fair swap and no need to dwell on this trade at all from either side.

It's ********. How would she possibly know that.

Even JVR knew he was going to be traded. Look at all the quotes from him since the trade deadline.

Suter and Wideman, maybe. Or it could be Holmgren ready to throw his entire checkbook at Parise.

Great. Well, Luke, you'd better change your game a bit cause I don't see the system changing anytime soon.

Probably the biggest glaring weakness I can think of for JVR is his consistency, as in he's pretty inconsistent.

Players better think twice before signing an extension in Philly.

Sure I get that, I don't mean he won't be worth it but it was an overpayment for where he was at already. On the other hand I think Schenns deal is a value for money deal which he can make look like a bargin if he improves (and a trade can kick start that, not to mention playing with your brother). Not saying I think Flyers steal this deal just that it's probably good for both sides.

There is only a handfull of ways that homer can claw his way back from this.

Bobby Ryan is here after trading menial assets for.

We sign Parise in the off-season

We sign Suter in the off-season.

I like this deal because: the probability of Brayden Schenn staying with this team just went up.

I don't like this deal because: the probability of Shea Weber playing in orange just went down.

Anyone else now wanting Steve Ott to round out the top 9?

Hartnell - G - Voracek
Simmonds - Briere - Schenn
Ott - Couturier - Read

That doesn't mean we can't still drive for Suter at least. Or possibly Parise.

Strengths: Driving the net with the puck

Weaknesses: Mostly everything else.

But JVR will be a force down the boards if his legs are healthy, he just doesn't play well nicked up because his skill set isn't very deep. We learned that this year.

like a lot of others here, I like the trade for both teams.

JVR has all the talent in the world with size and speed and could put it all together and be a star player, but I don't think it was going to happen here. I think the same can be said about Schenn. both needed a change of scenery and a fresh start.

I heard something about this(JVR/L. Schenn) earlier in the year and was excited about it possibly happening. scoring was also a strength of the Flyers, picking up a tough, solid RT handed defenseman wasn't.

good luck to JVR! he was always a good kid and hopefully he puts it all together and finds his game in Toronto.

The latest of my cursed jersey collection.

Gagne, Richards, JVR. I kept one blank just in case.

We also just freed up a tad bit in cap space as well. Also, the idea with this is that Schenn gives us a guarantee of actually getting another D-man, and in this case, one younger than JVR.
