Burke has said he is comfortable with Reimer at this point. Luongo is not coming to Toronto - ever. Maybe Florida, maybe Tampa, but not Toronto.
Just yesterday Burke made a fairly well publicised offer for Luongo and when he was interviewed at the draft he confirmed there is interest but they're still a fair ways apart. Stop with the "Burke wouldn't touch Luongo with a 100 ft pole!" already.

Then they'll just need to pick up Schroeder to recreate that line from the Ottawa WJC.

I like Lou but man, that salary is terrifying. I can see why Canucks fans want to jettison him, that opens a ton of cap space.

It has everything to do with it.

What difference does it make who offered the contract - cap circumvention is cap circumvention, and Brain Burke has had a lot to say about it. To think that he's going to change his mind all of the sudden is obtuse.

I was thinking exactly this. Hendrick already said he saw Burke and Poile talk so it could potentially be him. I wonder what we give back though. It better not be Kulemin. If it is, Burke can go stuff himself with his hotdogs that he has to get his stomach pumped (better not hope for a guy to die, so this is the next best thing).

Look I'm a Canucks fan, but you simply cannot rely on Raymond for 2nd line scoring. I'm just being honest.

He's a GREAT 3rd line option because he's so sound defensively but not 2nd line scoring.

Geeez Jimmy, I don't remember that at all - I remember Burke saying he can't talk about a player who's under contract with another team.

Out of curiosity - what was the highly publicized offer?

You referred Kulemin to "secondary scoring" so he referred Raymond to "secondary scoring"

No, I'm a Sens fan it is clear to me that the Leafs should not make that deal. If we are talking a Luongo signed for three years there would be about 20 different GM's with that offer but you cannot expect any vallue with that horrendous length of contract

There's some great arguments for acquiring Kulemin....but secondary scoring isn't one of them currently.

He just came off a 7 goal season.

I know I know....It's just that from our perspective, a team that is just a year removed from being the most offensive team in the league, outside of Toronto's top line the rest of their forward group looks like a collection of Mason Raymond/Chris Higgins.

but not really luongo has been a starter for 10 + years, kulemin has scored 30 once, although i think kulemin is much better than he showed last year.

?

No it doesn't $5 mil is not crazy for a #1 and frankly a large portion of Canuck fans would rather keep Luongo and trade Schneider.

And he had 30 goals the season before. I think its fair to say hes a 20-goal scorer. Its like saying Luongo is a backup because of last season..
