I wonder if Brayden can convince Luke to shed some pounds and also get his head in the right mind set and be less of a *******.

Leafs fan,
Gotta say im sad to see schenn leave. He's a stay at home defenseman and if he reaches his full potential, he'll
be a beast. Take his first year as an example. You might not like him right now, but in the future you will be glad you have him. I wish i still had him.

JVR straight up for a young, possibly stud D is a good deal in my books.
Kinda hard to impress someone when you can't skate well due to injury....16 points in 20 games before he got hurt, does that impress you?? How about the playoffs the season before?

Leafs fan here, I think it's a good deal for both teams. Schenn just wasn't a fit with Ron Wilson's run and gun style. I wanted to see how he plays now that Carlyle is coach which is why I'm disappointed to see him go. Expect a lot of hits, and actually a good first pass if he regains his confidence.

As for JVR, I know he's big. But the most important question is does he USE his size? Does he hit, play the boards, or stand in front of the net or all of the above?

traded potential for potential, value is pretty fair to me

read the luke schenn appreciation thread in the leafs forum...heart and soul player that fans loved...can't wait to see him in orange and black

been watching youtube videos of him burying people and its getting me jacked up!!

Schenn bros are going to be taking names in philly!! love it!!!

Mhmm... Not sure how to feel about that. There must be something else coming because otherwise I don't really get what Homer did during the last 3 days. I still believe the defense needs a bigger "name" and I also think there was a way how to get such name using a package including JVR - and I really don't like trading JVR straight up in a 1 -1 deal with that kind of return. But now I don't see many other posibilities than an UFA hunt for either Sutter or Parise (when speaking about those supposed big names, otherwise there are a few options for improvement).

Long story short, I'm confused as hell

We didn't really "need" him.
Chris, With this deal now done and even though Luke is not a #1. What are our chances of landing a guy like Weber next year?

Schenn has zero offensive upside.

He does the latter two.
Altough not at a very high level.

Schenn was awful last year. He was playing 3rd pair minutes and getting scratched.

Stupid trade

Canucks fan here in peace; that said I will be brutally honest from a guy who has had to watch TO play a lot.

If JVR is anything good with decent upside, you guys just got fleeced cause Schenn is an overrated defensive mess (hyperbolic, but you get the picture).

Sorry about this trade.

You traded for the wrong player. #6-7 d-man on 2nd worst defensive team in the league.

Oh, the irony. Schenn will prove his worth and part of the reason for that has do with Wilson's coaching. Wilson and Schenn never got along at all and Schenn was a young kid begging for direction in our organization which he will surely get under Flyers coach and management.
