Roberto Luongo III - Goldwinner
Roberto Luongo IV - Thunderpuck
Roberto Luongo V - You Only Get Traded to Florida Twice
Roberto Luongo VI - On Her Majesty's Secret Tire Pumping Service

Thought I would x-post it.

When Luongo made 6.75M the Canucks would normally spend 13-16% of their capspace on their goalie tandem.

If Schneider and Luongo combine for a 10M cap hit (highly unlikely) then the Canucks would be spending 14% of their cap space on their goalie tandem.

So yes, it's perfect feasible that we go into next season with both goalies, and thanks to players being signed to sweetheart contracts we will still have cap space left over for upgrades.

I wish there was a conceivable way that Vancouver ended up with Bobby Ryan in a multi-team trade if they move Luongo.

Lots of talk about Anaheim overhauling a big part of their roster.

Put 4 names into a hat: Gardiner, 2013 1st, Komisarek, Connolly

Choose 2 for Lu!

Only if I get to do it, and have ample lead time with a freezer nearby...

Ya no kidding. All the Nucks fans are kicking themselves now if they knew they could flip Schenn for JVR.

Nope both JVR and Schenn are reclamation projects.

Good change of scenery for both, but I think both are overrated and overpaid for what they bring to the table.

They are both being paid for potential they may never reach.

Two teams have clear interest in Luongo: Florida and Toronto. Both teams held dialogue with Vancouver at the draft. But both the Panthers and Maple Leafs were unimpressed with the opening asking price from the Canucks. Way too high, was the reaction. But that’s natural in these discussions. It’s only a starting point.

But what it also tells you is that the Canucks aren’t going to buy in to this theory that they have to simply take whatever they can to get rid of Luongo’s monster contract. He’s still a top-level goalie and the Canucks are adamant they will make a hockey deal, not a CBA dump deal. You can’t blame Vancouver for that. Simply put: if Toronto gets Luongo, for example, it makes the playoffs next season, in my opinion. Think that shouldn’t be motivation enough for the Leafs?

Know this from the Panthers: They’ve decided this weekend they’re going to see this Luongo thing through. They’re going to focus on it seriously.

Know this, part 2: Canucks GM Mike Gillis will also see this through. He’s not giving Luongo away. If the proper deal isn’t there this summer, he’s prepared to have Luongo come to camp and wait until a team gets serious into the season before the trade deadline. The question is, would Luongo be OK with that?

Truth. JVR played like **** last season, I know because I had him in my pool and I watched him very closely. It was a riskier deal for Toronto that I hope will work out, that franchise needs some good luck for a change.

The annoying thing is that with Schenn and 2012 2nd gone, there's less assets on the table(I don't see JVR being traded).

I think a 2013 1st would have to be involved(it was really depressing watching TT amd Maata dropping within a few picks of us).

2013 1st + Kadri + 2014 2nd...
Meh. I'd do it, but not overly enthusiastic.

And that's only possible, because of their great relationship... Nobody is going to screw anybody over here, and over this... If Luongo had an issue starting the year with the Canucks, it wouldn't be a part of the "exit plan"... Granted the "threat" of it might just be a part of the "exit plan" (that's up to other GM's to decide)... But Gillis isn't doing or saying anything that Luongo will be blindsided with...

I swear, Luongo is one of the greatest Canucks to ever wear the Canuck jersey... I really wish he won the cup last year... Once the story comes out about the "Luongo trade" (once it's all said and done) I imagine that any Canuck fan who ever questioned his loyalty and character would feel rather silly... It's well documented that Gillis and Luongo had met to determine the exit plan (where they go from here, and how they go from here)... And the plan that they agreed to clearly includes the possibility (or threat) that Luongo could come back next year if need be (unless, Gillis is deviated from the plan, which I find hard to believe)... Luongo could easily make this a situation like Leaf fans hope... What Leaf fans hope is probably an expected response and action from a star player being replaced by a young star in the making... It's the type of leadership and committment that is really going to benefit the team that gets him...

Komaserik? Salary dump? **** off, IMHO...

Pretty much.

I do like what PoundCake has done with organizing the threads however.
The Bond theme added a good touch. I'm hoping the members continue that tradition.

Done.

First draw... Jake Gardiner!
Second draw... Mike Komisarek!

So it's Gardiner and Komisarek for Luongo.

Ballard trade (cost us calder runner-up Grabner and a 1st), Luongo signing, letting Ehrhoff go, drafting Cody Hodgson (look at the players taken after him), experimenting with Luongo as captain.......
