Could not believe this. Big kid, almost PPG. I knew his skating was a concern, but think of how many guys have overcome skating deficiencies.

I wasn't trying to say he didn't. He's clearly had experience in that league before. I was just pointing out the oddity that he wasn't given that moniker when others were.

We had some Day 2 reflections of the NHL Entry Draft in Pittsburgh from Tom Lynn, the former Assistant GM of the Minnesota Wild and currently of Veritas Hockey. Lots of talk about the Jets build process.

Who isn't looking forward to a duo of Lowry/Sutter, Bogosian/Trouba? Great stuff!

My wish is to see Lowry-C.Wilson-Sutter as a 3rd line in the future.

Who cares? People are allowed to not like the picks the Jets made. Focus on your opinions on the matter.

Neither side knows anything ATM. Thats the thing about the draft. By the time one side or another is right, no one is around to argue it anymore

No worries
It just seems like its the same people always getting bent out of shape, with any jets desicision that gets made.

However, i too find it odd they drafted two goalies.

I hear ya man. On both counts. The one thing I don't get is why do these men not even get a chance to succeed or fail? It's like they have been sentenced already and we have barely begun to build this thing.

That is another thing too.
Rarely is there ever "a forsure thing"
It is really all a crap shoot at this moment.

Anything can happen.

Never did understand drafting goalies, unless they are rated very high ( like 2 of Atlanta's picks: Pavelec or Kari Lehtonen ) and you need one badly. Goalies can always be had without using a later draft pick for one. JMO but I would rather draft a skater.

I would imagine it's because goalies are a such a crapshoot, but so are skaters in those later rounds -- I think on IC today they said statistically a 7th round skater is about as likely to have NHL success as an undrafted free agent.

On the other hand if you happen to luck out with a goalie you drafted and they take off in college or the minors or whatever, then that's REALLY nice for your organization. So it's a really low-risk, good-reward move to pick up a late-round goalie you like and throw 'em in your system, and statistically you're not passing up much to do it.

This is an interesting take. Good to put in perspective for the seventh but im still scratxhing my head don our "early" picked goalie

I was thinking Forsberg, Grigorenko, or Faksa, but was happy with the Trouba pick. I just figured that Chevy would be looking for a forward.

I think wpgsilver called it best (for those that like Trouba, anyway): "We're going to look back on this pick fondly. Book it".

Reactions to the pick start on page 18...

Pretty funny

Trouba was my second guess for the Jets because my first was gone (Lindholm) so I got that sort of correct.

Otherwise I was pretty awful at predicting other teams' picks.

Plus a few players are making me look smart.

I didn't like Reinhart before the draft and he's still been meh so far.

I said I believed Gally will develop into the best player taken in the draft and while Yakupov is playing great (and still maybe better at this point) Gally is rapidly closing and is playing outstanding in the OHL and just claimed a WJC gold medal.
