Ebert is a headcase, has terrible hockey IQ, and known for being lazy.
and that explains him dropping out of the 1st round, maybe even the 2nd...but all the way to the last pick in the draft?
we've seen guys drop big time before and teams take them in the 3rd or 4th round thinking they got a steal and then you never hear from the guy again cause there was a reason they dropped. but it always amazes me to see a guy drop so far in their draft year
Sounds like the players the Rangers drafted have some potential to be at least useful players down the road.
I'm surprised they bypassed Slepyshev (not drafted, maybe effort level not always what you'd like, difficult to lure him from the KHL?), Zharkov (not as physical as often as you'd like?), Prokhorkin; Emil Lundberg (just noticed he wasn't drafted; maybe still too raw?) [Assessments above mentioned in the Hockey News draft preview]. Still, I would have traded down from #28 overall, but what can you do.
Other notes, was surprised Brandon Whitney lasted until the 7th round, was listed among the top 5 goalies going in, apparently, the teams though otherwise; Matheson went earlier (Florida, #23 overall) went earlier than I thought.
How did we get a 5th round pick, and where's our 3rd?
Was there a trade?
yea NYR dealt there 3rd this yr for NSH 3rd next and then later they got NSH 5th for ranger 5th next........Poile and Sather seem to have a deal that if they like a guy and the other team doesnt in a certain spot they flip picks
