We took an "overager" with our 2nd when plenty of younger players were on the board. I'm happy with Samuelsson and Melindy, but Martinook and Holland I'm not.
Some players just take a little longer to figure it out. Yandle was an overager, as was David Perron.

Would be nice if we could draft a normal aged, averaged sized center from somewhere. Just take a flyer on one or whatever. Get some blood in those pipelines.

Just wanted to say that I really enjoyed the chat last night. Had a lot of fun talking hockey with other Yotes fans (being from here, that NEVER happens haha). Looking forward to doing it again soon!

With one of these last 3 picks I would like to see the Coyotes grab Frank Vatrano out of the US Development Team. Big bodied forward who I think has the smarts and size to be in the NHL someday.

My expectations going into this draft were a solid "meh". At least I'm not disappointed.

At least I'm excited about Samuelsson. Every one else, not so much.

R1/3 A. Galchenyuk (C) R2/33 S. Collberg (RW) R2/51 D. Thrower (D) R3/64 T. Bozon (LW) R4/94 B. Vail (C) R5/122 C. Hudon (LW)

I figured the first three were first rounders and the second three were second round. Holy crap that's a load of upside.

Seems like there's a team that does this (i.e. draft all of the guys HF loves who have fallen a bit) every year.

Don't like it when some people are so quick to dismiss some of our picks. I highly doubt anyone has seen the guys we drafted more than our scouting staff. Understandable why some would do this given our drafting history, and hfboards is an arm chair gm website but cmon. Very annoying. If you don't like the pick explain yourself why you don't like the pick and don't use other peoples draft list as a reason for it.

Overall I'm happy with the last couple days. I think some folks who are hating the Martinook pick will be pleasantly surprised in time. Really like the Melindy and Fejes picks as well. Getting Samuelsson is fantastic as I think he fits this teams identity perfectly and bringing Z home without giving up anything important just tops it all off.

Holland was one of the players I liked in the 6th/7th round range, and since we did trade Ruopp, getting some size and nastiness was necessary.

I am happy with the pasy two days, as we added size and some offensive ability over the first two rounds, and defensemen who are gaining experience later on. Plus, the biggest issue to address, pertaining to shots on goal against was addresses through bringing Z back in the fold. One of our problem areas will be far fewer due to Z's outstanding positioning....

Agreed Bux. Great two days.

With Schenn joining his brother in Philly, I wonder when we trade for Milan Michalek. Haha.

Damn Dallas!! Took my two favorites in the first and second round. Now I have to hate them. Not gonna lie, I'm a little jealous.

Looking at that seems like Tikkinen fell to us a bit. Meh... I'm more excited about Melindy. Sounds like a real solid pick.
