I personally find both JVR and Schenn decent players. While both have failed to live up to expectations, I would easily take both on the habs over say Bourque and kaberle. Who wouldn't I guess, but i'd even take some over more established and reliable players like gionta. I feel a young core going forward is a good thing and these are good players, good character guys. Not elite, but still pieces i'd gladly take and add to the core of pacioretty, subban and price.

But I don't think they are up Bergevin's alley. If you could get them on one or two year deals, maybe. I really want to add wingers for Pleks, too.. so we can have Gionta on Eller's wing with Moen.
I really hope you are kidding as those two clowns are coach and GM killers. Let some other team waste their money on them. Go after Doan and Parise. If neither of them, try to make a deal getting rid of Bourque in the process.

The point is you would be buying a lot of talent for a low price without sacrificing any of the youth movement. On a one year gig to get this team back in the playoffs while we wait for our young players to become NHL ready. I'm tired of seeing horrible hockey players like Darche get big minutes due to the Habs lack of forward depth.

**** missing the playoffs again, you can probably have Semin and Kostitsyn on the team for the same price we spent this year on Gomez and Campoli. All it costs is money which we have a lot of.

You want Parise? ****, who doesn't. Good luck. And who wouldn't want Shane Doan? I'm sure all fans would. But I doubt the captain of the coyotes is a) going to leave b) going to go a city full of hack journalists who still hold him accountable for that ridiculously blown out of proportion statement he made against a Quebec referee a few years ago.

There's not a lot out there this offseason, so why not gamble a bit if you can find a bargain (who knows, maybe these players won't be cheap.. but I think they could be). A lot of dinosaurs around the NHL have this hilarious anti-Russian stigma right now and I'd love to see us take advantage of that.

"Oh no! Kostitsyn met a couple of chicks in the desert and stayed out past curfew! He's a coach killer!" Whatever, if his last name was North American people would laugh and say "ah, what a good old boy. What a beauty!"

JVR-Schenn trade: this may have been the first good trade that Burke has made that has made his team better. Phaneuf was a good one but the results have been so-so. Now the Leafs can look up and can imagine themselves getting better on the ice.

On Columbus, this is just like before Howson was hired. If you guys have read Future Greats and Heartbreaks, they kept the scouting staff waiting forever before they were laid off and to make it worse, they were kept away from the draft floor.

Habs org handled things badly from time to time but Columbus does it the worst.

That's a very good trade for the leafs. Not a big Burke fan but he's pretty good in trades (Kessel deal ended up being a mistake but at least they got a damn good player out of it).

I dont see this trade as that big of one for the leafs.
They give up a defenseman that had the most hits last year for a guy that is one more concussion away from being the next Lindros.

Not sure. I don't really blame him. I think he was kidding, but the boy took it seriously. With NHL's strict rules about social media's, I would not be surprised to see him getting fined or something tbh lol.

Who to blame? Probably the guy that started it.. But Paul being the athlete/pro here, hes prolly gona take all the heat

Jvr might still have a concussion?

I laughed, the New York Yankees of the NHL, more like the Chicago Cubs of the NHL. As bad as last year was, we will never be the joke of a team that the Leafs are. Watch Schenn go to Philly and be a great player, watch JVR come to TO and become Tim Connoly.

The Los Angeles Kings and Dustin Penner are expected to meet in the next few days.
Penner is due to become an unrestricted free agent in one week's time if the two sides are unable to reach an agreement before then. It seemed like a foregone conclusion that Penner would become a UFA at the end of the regular season as he had only seven goals and 17 points but a great playoff in which he potted three goals and 11 points in 20 games and played the style of play expected of him all season, gave him reason to hope that he could re-sign with the Kings. Stay tuned.

Bruins trade Benoit Pouliot to Lightning

The Bruins traded Pouliot to Tampa Bay for forward Michel Ouellet and a fifth-round pick in Saturday’s draft. With that selection, 131st overall, the Bruins selected center Seth Griffith.
