Realistically, it doesn't mean he will coach until it runs out. Coaches get fired all the time before their contracts are up.

He never adjusts, he keeps trying the same tactics over and over until we lose.

Hopefully a better performance by our goalie will steal some of those games this time around.

So who else signed an extension only to fired soon after (1yr or half year)....hmm Hitch and Stevens come to mind...hope I'm wrong but I don't expect Lavi to finish this one either although hopefully he doesn't follow in Hitch's or Stevens footsteps/missteps as far as timeframe ...

I'm happy with this. I love Lavy, good coach. And with what he got out of all our rookies this year this was the right decision. It might have a negative impact on them should we change coaches during their second year.

Contracts for coaches literally mean nothing. The only reason they ever get new contracts is so they take the lame duck excuse off the table.

Ron Wilson got extended around Christmas and was fired a few months later. Fortunately there are no cap hits where coaching is concerned.

Coaches are hired to be fired.

Very few have the luxury like Lindy Ruff and Trotz.

Lavys system can get a lot of wins in the regular season with sub par talent. The Flyers are a talented team though so I doubt he would be fired mid season. That is unless the players get fed up with him and basically quit skating which I don't see happening with this group.

Maybe not playing with 6 or 7 rookies in and out of the line up every night will help too.

All indications are that Lavy is Snider's guy. Plus, his style keeps the Center full.

Seems from interviews that Snider was sick coaching and goalie carousel and he is going to ride Lavy and Bryz for awhile.

All those rookies came in though because we had to clear out a lot of the locker room because of the players not buying into the coaches system. It looks like they will give him another season so lets see if he can make it three straight playoffs with no adjustments when the team is clearly being manhandled.

Unfortunately, the coach cannot control every aspect of a hockey game. It is up to the players to rise and face adversity. Something a team of 6 to 7 rookies will be incapable of 9 times out of 10. Before we start crying about Lavy ALREADY, and dismissing all of the good things we've done in playoff series, how bout we look around the league and ask ourselves is there really someone else out there who could do better with the same group?

I hope Lavy is here for a long time.

You mean those lockerroom issues that just won a Cup? The true lockerroom issue was cleared out with a stick to the face and a concussion at the beginning of this past season.
