Really hope Bunz is ready for the ECHL this year and Roy is ready to start at the AHL level. Hopefully Fedun has a good camp and keeps progressing well. It seems like we all sort of forgot about him after his injury last year and his potential as a good #5 on our team.

I've gone the last two years and it's cool. It sounds boring because you're just watching a bunch of drills but I always have a good time. I recommend everyone go for at least one day. Last year I sat in front of Louis Debrusk and Tom Gazzola. Not my finest moment but I listened in on their conversation and found out what Steve MacIntyre's plan was to get a new job in the NHL since he and Debrusk are friends. You also see guys like Kevin Lowe, Craig Simpson, Ken Lowe, Rod Phillips(maybe not this year), Stu MacGregor plus tons of TSN, Sportsnet, Team1260 and CHED guys walking around. Some but not all(Rishaug comes across as a little stuck up ) are up for talking hockey with people. A couple years ago Smid randomly showed up and signed autographs/took pictures for people. The prospects also come out and sign autographs. I think the more high profile players just come out for the first day though so if you want to meet Yakupov or Klefbom, that's probably the day to go.

I think Hall might also be on the ice for a couple days. He mentioned something on Oilers Now about coming to town for the development camp. He didn't specify whether he just happened to come this week or if he was going to participate. Hemsky was on the ice last year so it's not unheard of.

Sounds so awesome! So if it goes til noon they come out and sign autographs after that?

I'm actually just interested to see Yakupov in the ice in person. Other local celebs are fun too. I'm sure Yakupov will get mobbed.

I hope to see Hall there.

I'm guessing RNH and Eberle will be in town too then for Yakupov's presser? That would be neat.

Really interested to see where Taylor Fedun is at.

JTS, Are you trying to make this into your own version of the Al Montoya/NYR joke? We gave up Hesketh's rights long ago. Why do you keep thinking we still have them?

The Oilers dropped 2009 third-round draft pick defenceman Troy Hesketh (Chicago Steel and Sioux City, United States Hockey League juniors) from their list and he was back in the draft this June, with no takers. He was attending the University of Wisconsin, but now he’s not.

It's fun rubbing eblows with some hockey folks. Had a good chat with Bruce McCurdy last year as he live tweeted the camp.
Also, it's a nice way to beat the heat on hot summer day.

I'm interested to see some of the NCAA dmen this year. Specifically Bigos, Simpson and Laleggia.

They usually send out 5-8 players at the end of everyday. Everyone takes a turn going out but rarely do they come out more than one time. I'm pretty sure Hall, Eberle and Paajarvi came out on the first day and that was it. Same with RNH last year. I could be wrong though. I don't have any interest in meeting the players so the only time I see who comes out is if I take my time leaving. Then I come on here and usually see who people got to meet. There was one day where I stuck around for a while so my sister could hopefully meet Hall, Eberle and Paajarvi. I think it was the 3rd or 4th day of camp. It was guys like Abney, Rajala and Vande Velde that came out. She didn't know who they were. Luckily Smid was willing to take a picture and sign her shirt.

The hockey part of it is cool too(it's why I go). Last year it really became obvious that Lander is a leader. Everyone kinda just stands around and waits their turn. Lander is the guy right in there cheering everyone on and complimenting them after.

Here's video my sister took to give people an idea of what you'll see. She didn't put it in the video but I'm pretty sure that's Bunz in net.

It's not all like that though. There are skating exercises....that we all over analyze like it really tells us whether or not someone is going to make the NHL someday

That's true. He did. I think that was more because he was new to the organization. I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure players usually don't have to go if they've played a season of pro.

Teubert looked like a pro out there too. He and Lander(also a pro in Sweden) were the stand outs last year.

I like how Brett Ferguson gets invited again because he's Nuge's good friend from Red Deer.

If there's one guy the Oilers need to keep happy...it's the #1 center.

I also think the Oilers would have taken Brandon Magee if they had a seventh rounder. Really good player but undersized, I think he'll open some eyes at the camp this week. He'll look really good in practices, his skills and work ethic are off the charts.

I'm guessing the Hesketh part is a joke? He's basically playing at a Minnesota community college in NCAA Div 3 right now. He's probably one of the biggest busts the Oilers have ever drafted.

Magee was on HF's 2012 draft whl notables list:

Brandon Magee, F, Victoria Royals
Diminutive forward rode mid-season outburst to post 47 points in 65 games. Great speed and a good nose for the net.

Edmonton Oilers (@NHL_Oilers)
Nail Yakupov, Daniil Zharkov and Wade Epp arrive at @FlyEIA this afternoon for #DevelopmentCamp

Edit: Oilers twitter originally had Epp as Gustafsson

I had faint hope for the guy. I saw one game on line a few years ago and was hoping--did not realize they dropped his rights. The one problem being here in europe I am getting less infor on collage prospects. The guy who ran a pretty good uni site graduated and once he did he closed his site and it was part of his thesis

http://oilersnation.com/2011/7/8/sai...rom-minnetonka

missed it
