Now you are just kidding yourself!!

The only thing that links these two are the fact they are from Cole Harbour.

Don't get me wrong, Nathan is definitely a blue chip prospect, but he is no Crosby.

Every extraordinary midget player coming out of the Maritimes is suppose to be the Sidney Crosby, just ask Ben Duffy!!!

The closest 1st rounder was Tavares and it's not even close.

Mackinnon will end up in Hall/RNH class. Not Tavares. Stamkos and far away from Crosby. He's the best 1st pick since Lemieux ? ( Or some might argue with Lindros.)

Crosby was excellent at everything. MacKinnon has to work on his defense. He wasn't as dominant offensively either. He might be more in the RNH/Hall category right now. Tavares? We'll see next season.

Nichushkin will also be one to watch if he can avoid the Russian factor questions. That's 17 guys already. Count Duclair (WTK's Murray for 2013) and it's 18.

Factor in THREE 2nd rounders, potentially 3 of them in the top 15-20 of round 2 as Calgary should continue to be a mediocre team and Nashville could very well be a bubble team if Suter leaves.

Factor in Timmins focusing ONLY on the draft the entire season.

Factor in a beefed up scouting staff with Kinsella and another Q scout added.

Factor in Bergevin who seems really passionate about the draft process and seems to really value talented players.

Could be epic for us.
I agree with everything, and I'd add, Lapointe and Brisebois as development personnel, FINALLY. Young guys won't be thrown under the bus now without knowing there's a bus coming

2012 draft is, IMO, amazing, no college players so we might be able to see them way faster than usual (I guess Gauthier and Gainey didn't want to be bothered with fast upcoming contracts, so Timmins somehow HAD to find a way to get good players in college, Timmins will be unleashed now under Bergevin!)

2013 will be something else... !

All 3 play a similar style. Puck protection/power/skill game. I don't know how to describe it. Now the difference is how good will Mack be at that style compared to both.

And Mackinnon will make the jump straight to the NHL, barring any injury, Shinkaruk, not so sure.

Not to mention that Mackinnon completly carried the moose with Drouin and Fucale in the playoffs.

Shinkaruk had average playoffs, after a terrific year.
And he's one of the oldest guy in the draft, being a late birthday, Mackinnon is one of the youngest.

Mackinnon will destroy the 'Q next year.

Another important point to add with Shinkaruk is that he had a prolific scorer with him in Etem.
Were his stats inflated by him? It will be interesting to see how he fares without Etem next year.
Oh and one last point, Mackinnon is bigger physically(in weight) than Shinkaruk and plays more of a power game.
Just as much as saying McKinnon will go first overall a year away from the draft. Seth Jones is already pegged as the first overall pick for next year by some analyst. It's probably gonna be between Jones and McKinnon, but it's not like they are the only two talented players in the draft so we never know.

And don't underestimate Jones. He's already a physical specimen and he has skills to burn. He's gonna be, just like McKinnon, a very special player.

People need to stop thinking that Gainey and Gauthier pulled all the strings behind Timmins. I'm pretty sure we always went for the players we wanted even if they were playing college or in Russia. No head scout of Timmins' quality would accept to pass over good player because of where they play.

MacKinnon is a powerful skater, his first 3 strides are at an elite level, and he power forward capabilities. I don't see how he is similar to Tavares.

Hey now, Ben`s brother is one of my apprentice Electronic Techs.

But this post cannot be any more true. MacKinnon is not the same kind of player at all. But he is a rare talent none the less

Duclaire is my Ryan Murray, definitely..

Drouin is my guy though. Really love his game. Absolutely dynamite talent and he was clutch in the Remparts series.

''Galchenyuk dances through the middle and carries the puck into the offensive zone, pass to Collberg on the right side, stickhandles his way by Rielly, cross-ice feed to Drouin, he scores! He beats Reimer up high!''

Drouin reminds me a lot of Hudon in his first season, except for the skating.

Don't you think he was a product of MacKinnon a bit in this round? He was pretty much invisible in the first two games while MacKinnon was producing and playing great without him. When Drouin was put on MacK's line, that's when he started producing.

Great forward but I feel like playing with MacKinnon will help him a lot, especially for the draft. It tells a lot about MacKinnon.

Hard to say without knowing where these picks will be.

But it's a clear top 4 to me.

MacKinnon and Jones will be an epic duel at the top of the draft. Can't go wrong either way.

I suspect Barkov and Monahan will battle for 3-4 because they are centers with size.

Then you have Shinkaruk and Lindholm, 2 forwards I LOVED at the U-18 and Ristolainen is a stud too.

If Nichushkin is coming to Moncton and quickly adapts, he will be in the convo for top 8 too.
