Just saw someone from Brunswick was invited. Pretty cool to see, know some kids who are on scholarship there for next year.

Can anyone who watched this Bathgate tell me if he's good or not and if he can possibly make the NHL?

I'm pretty interested in learning about him.

Not an NHL level talent at all.

JAM is probably going to FA and I wonder if Fogarty is already on campus taking summer classes or something like that.

I'm sorry, but not too many teams can boast such an impressive prospect development camp roster..

Not to mention a team that is a contender.

players who have a full season of pro experience normally don't attend theses camps.

Fogarty would have to pay his own way, that's likely why he isn't there.

Damn. I'm not saying I don't believe you, but can anyone second this?

Well it makes sense since he's an invitee and not a prospect.

Just search on the prospects board. This same question has been posed and answered a number of times. He's really not a prospect IMO.

Dane Fox is kind of an OHL super pest--shades of Avery. Zaytsev is another name that sticks out.

One of the more interesting invited is Dane Fox. He was ranked to be a mid to late second rounder and then invited to the Combine (which means that teams wanted to interview him). Yet he was not even a late round pick. All sorts of rumors (which I don't deal in), but I am anxious to see him in action again (saw him earlier in the season). Rangers cannot sign him, as he will go back into the draft next year, but he certainly has a shot of getting drafted next year, if he cleans up whatever caused the precipitous drop over the last couple of months.

As for Bathgate, sometimes players don't develop as expected and teams don't sign them. That is what happened to Bathgate. It's always possible he will be a late developer and become an energy guy.

So what's the deal with inviting all these prospects like Fox and Bell? We can't sign them, right? Is it just to see if we'd want to take them in the draft next year?

In a way we have an in--we learn more about them and if nobody drafts them then we can make a decision later on. Fox has been a bit of a moron--probably a main reason why everyone passed on him. Keeping in mind when using the term 'moron' he's still a kid. He can grow--and anyway I like personality. He seems to have a bit of that--but that can be a red flag. Looking at someone like Ebert who has a lot of talent but was the last guy drafted yesterday--impressions mean a lot to NHL teams. They care about talent but they also worry about character--will--desire--family values.

They are probably undrafted free agents.

Finally made it to new York, at the cheesecake factory with @my_ohs29

my_ohs29 is Myles Bell's twitter account so I think it's safe to assume he's here

Players like Fox who were just passed over once can sign with another team right away? That's what confuses me, can anyone clarify?

I think the Rangers could sign Bell as he was draft eligible in 2011 and 2012.

it depends on the players age. i believe that players born between 1/1/93 and 9/15/95 are eligible for the 2013 draft. but not 100% sure on those date. if the guy is within those dates they can be re-entered into the draft
