Decent Numbers, wonder if there is any chance he comes over to play in the CHL.

Not ranked anywhere that I know of. But looks like he has some size and grit, which we could certainly use. Hopefully he comes over to the CHL, or gets the chance to play against men in Sweden.

CHL Import Draft takes place next Wednesday. We'll know a bit more after that.

NHL network had him listed at 6'3" 172lbs...not upset about that.

Those are old numbers. In season 2011/2012 he was listed at 187 lbs, according to swehockey.com

Plenty of time to hopefully add more weight too.

He had a pretty good interview for the Pens afterward (on the main site)... says one of the things he has to work on aside from explosiveness is "controlling his temper" I like it. He seems like another quality character for sure. I think he said one more year in Sweden but I'm not sure.

I don't know if his nerves played a part (I imagine they did) but his English isn't great, I guess it's unfair to expect all Swedes to speak English as well as Nick Lidstrom/Gabriel Landeskog.

I kind of like the broken English interviews... they're much more interesting. He has some of Geno's speech mannerisms too, which is funny.

yeah, maybe him and Geno could interview each other . Did sound a little like he had a cold so that might have played into it to. I think he's from Northern Sweden so maybe they use less English up there.

From the Swedish prospect thread.

One week before draft day, Oscar warmed up climbing Mount Kebnekaise, the highest mountain in Sweden, 2106m. Oscar to the left.

Climbing Mount Kebnekaise is something all people from northern Sweden with some sort of self respect does at least once. The glacier at the top is slowly melting, so Oscar still has to climb a mountain higher than 2115m to beat me

You have any mountains in the Pittsburgh area? That might lure him over earlier

I just spent a while trying to find info on this guy... and found pretty much nothing that we already knew. Found this tidbit though http://makoman-mazmania.blogspot.com...n-to-date.html

Dont know how accurate that is, but I am now even more curious about this player.

Did anyone in the CHL pick him up in the import draft?

If he likes climbing things he'll like it here. I have to go up about four sets of stairs to get home.

Too bad he didnt get picked. The junior level aint that good in swden tbh. And the club he plays for are playing in the SEL (highest league in sweden) So i doubt he will make the big club. Would rather have seen him go to the CHL or at least get loaned to a club in "allsvenskan" (second highest league, were Philip forsberg plays). Then he would get used to play against men, but he would have a chance on making some impact at least.

Huh, that is a little disheartening to hear.

The only other alternative that I can think of is signing him, and putting him in the AHL. But that just seems like a waste of ELC time. Also, the baby Pens look pretty full on paper.
