The Hawks aren't trading their best defensemen for a package of prospects and picks. They're trying to win the cup again.

Both you and I know they're not getting Giroux. So I suggested the best that Philly can offer without completely destroying their team. And value wise it is not off.

I agree. And both you and I know Philly isn't getting Seabrook.

You're right that the value is probably there or close. But again, the Hawks are trying to win another cup. This trade would take the Hawks biggest weakness from 2012 and make it an even bigger problem.

That sounds about right from Chicago's end, and Seabrook would make Philly's D really frightening.

Timonen-Seabrook
Coburn-Grossmann
Meszaros-Schenn
Lilja, Bourdon

Well now both of you know that Philly isn't getting Seabrook because that package destroys the Hawks. We don't need forwards and Seabrook is our only physical defenseman. Also happens to be our #1 depending on who you ask.

Even without including Giroux, it'd probably take at least Couturier + Timmonen. Brayden Schenn might need to be involved too.

Basically, this trade is a nonstarter.

I am gonna have to disagree with Sarava here ,, He wouldn't cost Giroux

Coburn + Couturier + 1st is much more reasonable

Hawks aren't trading our 2nd best dman without getting a dman back and a guy who we can slot in as #2 C

This won't happen. And if it did it'd gut the Flyers roster to the point of not even being worth it.

Exactly

The cost to get Seabs would be too much for Flyer

I like both of them, but Seabrook>Keith IMO. Ever since his Norris win, Keith's play has been going downhill.

You're not going to pry one of the Hawks' core pieces away without offering an overpayment of roster players that will help the Hawks win the cup in 2013. I don't know why this isn't understood. And, no, more wingers doesn't fit that.

Seabrook is not for sale. You can't have him. He's as untouchable as Duncan Keith. You'd have to really knock our socks off to accept any package. I don't care if Couts + 1st ++ is "fair value", you gotta overpay to pry out a U-30 signed legit top pairing Defenseman out.

Keith is not untouchable after what he's done the last 2 years. I am more than willing to listen to offers for Keith. Legitimate offers though, not this prospects+draft picks BS.

yeah it's really just pointless to even makes trades including Seabrook or Keith in it. Especially if it's just picks and prospects...this ain't NHL12. That package would probably have done it on there.

Sean couturier faced the other teams best in the most difficult tough comp situation. he was 20 P better than the expected average. the average player in this role is -14 to -18 per season.

the kid was top 20 for PK in his position.

Quite honestly. he was the best defensive player in the league last year as a rookie.
backes and bergeron were top 10.
Datsyuk started in the offensive zone 55% of the time. Defensive? that is a ..... joke!

I know Seabrook (and Keith) are untouchable, but would Bobby Ryan and Luca Sbisa from the Ducks even get the 2 teams talking for either of the two? Of course more pieces would definitely be available from Ducks' side. I've wanted Ducks to try and acquire an elite defenceman for a long time now, and either one of Seabrook or Keith would be fine by me.

Ryan and Sbisa++ for Seabrook (or Keith). Do you Hawks fans think there would be any interest at all?
