Hell no, Marleau is a far more superior player than both of them. We need scorers not scrubs.

I would never trade Marleau since he's a valuable centerman and one of the few 30+ who can still skate like the wind. Make speed a part of your game Sharks....

Stay away from the Luongo Thread. There are Nuck Fans that think we're going to trade Marleau for Luongo.

Oh God...and we're gonna pay upwards of 9mil to keep a Niemi-Luongo tandem...? LOGIC, THERE IS NONE! PLus O Depth becomes a whole lot weaker.

The only way I see Doug Wilson moving Patrick Marleau is for a top 5 draft pick. Possible scenarios are:

San Jose Sharks receive:

2012 1st Round Draft Pick (5th overall pick)
C: Matthew Lombardi

Toronto Maple Leafs receive:

F: Patrick Marleau
D: Douglas Murray

It's crazy to think that Patty's been in SJ the same amount of time as he spent growing up with his parents (moved out at 14 to play hockey more competitively).

Marleau gets a bad rap but he's been a consistent point producer for many, many years.

Maybe the Sharks will get some offers from teams that miss out on Parise, but for that kind of cap hit why trade for Marleau when you can sign Parise for free.

I don't see a ton of Marleau but from what I have seen he is exactly the type of player I wouldn't want on Toronto.

He always puts in the points sure, but I find them to be hollow points as in he always seems like he just doesn't care. It is like a handful of guys in the league like say Kovalev, Yashin, Gaborik etc. Toronto needs serious gamers, guys who elevate their game when it is all on the line (in the mold of Giroux lets say)

Does anyone know what exactly San Jose would be asking for Marleau?

Same package I'd offer for Statsny.

Kadri + Ashton/Blacker/Holzer + Connolly + 2013 1st (top 10 protected)

Shark's don't want Connolly. Leafs would need to replace him with a top 6 winger as that's what he plays now and we are looking to add depth not loose it.

They need top six speed players more than anything else at this point. A left side PMD would hold value to the Sharks as well. The problem is that no team is going to offer the Sharks something that would really make it worth it to trade him while getting better next season. Marleau is the exact type of player they need more of and in a trade, they will be lucky to get two poor man's versions of Marleau which may or may not make them any better.

Those are two perfect pieces for Ottawa...we badly need a top six, preferably a LW, and we absolutely need a right handed shot.

Boyle wanted to be acquired by Ottawa, but IIRC, Murray wouldn't make the trade before SJ got him.

Is there a fit between the two teams for both players?

marleaus really underated around here id kill to have him on the avs when duchene was drafted marleau was my comparable for him, the caps not really a problem for the avs at all and goal scoring wingers are a big need, what are the sharks looking for right now? their team seems pretty well balanced to me maybe they want to get younger though would something around stastny work? they both are overpaid and marleau is better right now but stastnys a lot younger too and with actual wingers could easily return to form

I see all the leafs offers getting trashed. I would like to see a couple offers from sharks fans what would be a fair offer from the leafs for marleau.

I'd love to have Marleau on the Isles. In my opinion, the Sharks would be MUCH better served by retaining him. If the Sharks plan on retooling, Marleau would be the guy to keep around. If they were to trade him, would be fair from the Islanders?

There is nothing of interest to me that you'd be willing to give up.

Marleau is on the wrong side of Thirty and way overpaid. His skills will no doubt decline. as a sabres fan I might offer, Roy, Adam and 1st. Anymore and its not worth the future of your team. The Shark fans who are so happy with him now were roasting him when they exited in the first round again. Enjoy him next year too!

No one wants Kadri, Kulemin or Connolly. They should be banned from HFboards
