I put 3/7 of 2012 draft picks in the lineup, which doesn't strike me as a stretch. Most people agree that Galchenyuk, Collberg and Thrower will likely make it. The rest are hypothetical, which I indicated.

And Danny Kristo, Gallagher, Bournival, Dumont and Geoffrion. Are they all making the team too?
Of those I can only see Gallagher actually making an impact.
Exactly. And when The aforementioned players continue their development, some will fall off, some will rise to the AHL and some might be blessed enough to make it to the bigs and stay.

Wait-and-see. Every prospect is told the same thing "If you make it to the NHL, it's only because YOU took your chance and you PUT YOURSELF in the league." That is to say, their destinies are in their own hands (injuries aside) not in management. Management, and most fans, should be conservative with their predictions and expectations (especially TWO DAYS AFTER THE DRAFT) for this reason.
Michel Therrien isn't going into camp with Galchenyuk penciled in, but Galchenyuk is. So is Geoffrion and Leblanc and St-Denis and Tinordi - if they truly want it, that is.
Semi-related: My favorite "development" story is that of Souray, he spent an entire summer extensively working on his Slapshot and went from ~10 goals a year to ~20 and it got him 25 million dollars, or like ~12.5million more than he would've made.

Collberg is going to be a top 6 forward in the NHL, no doubt in my mind. Firstly, his skillset is that of a purely offensive player, and he was a highly regarded prospect due to his ability to be a scoring line player. He has top notch speed and quickness, as well as a top tier release on his wrister that is absolutely deadly not to mention is tenacity and puck skills.
His stats last year should be completely ignored. He was a 17 year old playing a few minutes a night on a 4th line in the SEL. At the WJC, playing against guys mostly a year or two older, he looked like a star.
The reason he slipped was due to the fact teams were looking for wingers with size (EDM at 32, PHX at 27, WAS at 16, etc), centers, and defenseman.
Collberg is a stud. Get excited, it's absolutely a miracle he feel to 33.
Interesting to see what Gallagher can do in the next 2 seasons. My guess is he has a short window. Wish we were like Detroit and let him play 3-4 seasons in the AHL before giving him a shot instead of rushing him and deciding after 1.5 yrs he's a bust. Maybe this will be part of the new direction.
I'm hopeful! I don't believe we don't have a much better management team and approach now. I sort of hope they take another year to make serious strides though as you can see there are still some big holes potentially. Either way, I think we're moving in the right direction.

Galchenyuk might be a winger for for life, nothing is cast in stone.
Would be kind of a drag because we need a big first line centre, but hey, if Eller's development absolutely skyrockets, he could be it. Definitely wouldn't bet on it, but a Galchenyuk-Eller-Pacioretty line would be tough to play against.

DO get excited,...collberg should of went 15 to 32, and we got him at 33
i wont lie, hearing about the 0 points in 40 games in SEL was SLIGHTLY alarming, as i only knew about his WJC and 18 WJC stats where he KILLED it and even out performed FORSBERG who i was RLY high about
but i knew and understood the situation... teenager, playing with the big boys, 6 minutes a game and all that, ..its completely understandable
i love to check hockeydb, and see the whole team, ..and you see every players name and what they did, as well as their Age right next to it ...and you see 31, 35, 27, 25....and then all of a sudden, u see some random "17", and it just puts everything into perspective
to GET there at all, is a testament to collberg, ..0 points, but people have to understand, to even be able or GET to play with the big boys is an accomplishment in itself, just MAKING it at all at such a young age should be the eye opener, not statistics itself

Whatever you want to say about Gainey/Gauthier - they did finally get us some size/skill in the top 6, including inadvertently tanking so we could get Galchenyuk. They also got us a young towering Dman in Tinordi, a big goalie in Price and critically, a future big #2 center in Eller. Crucial. Even Bourque is potentially a nice pickup by Goat, as was drafting Beaulieu. You cannot win without size AND skill, not just skill. Even Avtsin, if he packs some muscle on his 6-2 frame.

With Collberg, I'm a little more concerned that in the WJC his production was far better against weak opposition (Which is the difference between him and someone like Forsberg, who didn't put up gaudy stats but looked equally comfortable against bottom feeders and tough opposition), but not by his production last year. It reminds of Nino Niederreiter's situation in the NHL last year, except Collberg did spend more time in the jrs and bounced back nicely this summer. And Frolunda wasn't just being cheap like the Isles were with Nino.
Yeah sure, he can bust, but I have now clue how he fell that far. In mock drafts even the biggest skeptics had Collberg around 25.
The LULZ when Eller becomes an untouchable by the end of next season. Most people will want to forget what they posted about him.
He put up 1 less point than Plekanec in a comparable season (Plek played less games to be fair), and only doubled his point production, we should trade him for a 5th round pick then complain we don't have enoug size.
