.

Miller seems ot have wanted to fast track himself to the NHL.

While he can go back to Juniors, I think he goes to the AHL.

I think he's with the Rangers by mid-season and plays very well.

Not surprising. He's as big of a gym rat as Kreider and Hagelin are. I hope he keeps a balance with his skating though.

Shouldn't be a problem with his frame.

JT is gonna be a beast!

Throwing around 100lbs with 1 arm like it's nothing. And this was 2 years ago!

Rangers have done such a good job of drafting legit athletes lately. Miller, McIlrath, Skjei, Kreider, Hagelin (trading for McDonagh). They seem to put a premium on kids that have a few raw athletic abilities and who are incredibly hard workers. It seems they think those guys who can maximize their genetics because they have the right mindset have the best shot at success. I think, more often than not, they've been proven right. Gordie's been doing this since he drafted Chara.

Wouldnt be surprised if Jim was hitting on him.

Great news, though. Bigger, stronger, and still fast....this 1st place team still has a very bright future.

Well to be honest if you're using your arms while doing snatches then you're doing it wrong (and will probably destroy your shoulder). All of the effort involved in getting the 100lbs above his head should be coming from his legs/core muscles. The arm just holds the weight when you get it up there

Between Jim and JT, and Leslie and MDZ our players may be getting a little worried

Wow, how tall was he last year?

Hopefully most of that weight has gone into strengthening his legs and core. His arms seemed pretty big last year. It's great that so many of the kids we draft seem to really be committed to off-ice conditioning.

Did JT play center for most of the year? I remember hearing some talk that he may be projected as a winger.

Not fast per se, but he has a very good first step. My only concern was that he would lose some agility with that first step by adding on weight he doesn't need. Not too many kids his age can handle 210lbs on their frame and remain nimble on their feet.

6'2 208 as an athlete isn't anything too crazy though, he should be fine as long as it isn't all upper body gain or something

Mcilrath looks bigger and more filled out as well. He looks like he will be seriously competing for a spot this year. I don't think he will make the club out of camp, but I think there is a very good chance he will be on the team this year.

If we don't get Schultz, it might not be the end of the world. Dylan is right handed, and can probably be utilized as our triggerman on the PP. He has a bomb from the point.

My only concern is how much has his skating improved. We will find out at traverse this year.

There not be a training camp in September.

Dylan on a NHL PP?

There won't be a Traverse City tournament in September if there is no CBA by a certain date. The teams involved know the date. Probably sometime in August.

McIlrath's skating has improved

To get stronger, Thomas has enlisted former NHL power forward Gary Roberts, now a trainer to the elite NHLers in Toronto. "My Dad (Steve) played with him," Thomas said. "I'm working out with Steven Stamkos, James Neal, Jeff Skinner. It's an amazing group. They really push you."
DZ trains with those guys too.

Cristoval "Boo" Nieves, the Rangers' second-round pick this past Saturday, is headed for Michigan in the fall. He got a message of congratulations from current Ranger and former Wolverine Carl Hagelin, and the two are pretty well linked now.

"I'll be wearing his number (No. 12) when I get there," Nieves said. "Pretty big shoes to fill."

I really like the kid. He's confident, a leader, etc. I hated the pick at the time, but boy am I rooting for him to become an impact player. Not just because he was a high pick for us, but because he just seems like a great kid.
