Not receiving offers were Piche, Pouliot. Pouliot not qualified means he cannot invoke arb rights. Lightning confident he will be signed

As expected, Niskanen, Bortuzzo, Strait, Grant, Sneep, Tangradi and Veilleux get qualifying offers from Penguins.

Penguins won't give qualifying offers to O'Reilly, Modig, Pierro-Zabotel, Picard or Valabik, but might try to re-sign O'Reilly after July 1

surprised Comeau was not qualified. Most likely trying to sign him to a cheaper deal

#Isles give QOs to all RFAs except Tony Romano, Tyler McNeely and Yannick Riendeau.

A little surprised about Romano. He got 23 points in his 22 last games with Bridgeport

So, the Isles acquired Alexandrovs' rights to let him become an UFA?

need contract spots. Thats why they offered all their picks to move up for Murray and when that didn't happen they drafted a lot of guys headed to college to buy them time

why waste a contract spot on a guy most likely never coming to north america?

Why!? Right now I have them at 35 contracts out of a possible 50...do they have a game plan for those 15 spots?

Why? He was a waiver claim who made $2.5 million last season and scored 5 goals all year.

Rangers beat writer says Stralman will not be qualified. Surprising because Rangers fans loved him

He's still young and big with the potential to do better. Well not surprised he went unqualified, but at the no news of the Flames trying to re-sign him at a cheaper deal

Isn't Stralman an UFA on July 1st either way?

Edit: I see, capgeek has him as a RFA.

Andrew Gross ‏@AGrossRecord
Today is NHL deadline for qualifying offers to RFAs. For #NYR on #NHL level, Del Zotto and Zuccarello will get QOs, Stralman will not.

They got him for free, anyway.

Contract space isn't a issue for the Islanders. They ended the season with 45 players under contract (including Alexandrov and John Grahame).

Now they have 30 players under contract and only a few RFAs to sign.
-Rakshani and DiBenedetto already bolted to Europe
-Koskinen, Alexandrov, Katic will probably play in Europe next
-Riendeau, McNeely and Romano weren't qualify

This leaves Matt Martin, Ty Wishart, Tomas Marcinko and Sean Backman as RFAs. 30 contract + 4 RFAs, contract space is definitely not an problem for the Isles.

I thought they needed contract spots for their un-signed prospects. Thats what people here were saying as to why they offered Columbus the deal they did.

I don't think that it was the reason.

I mean they have until 2014 to sign Reinhart, Leduc, Pokka, Pelech and Graham. They can wait even longer before signing Somerby and Bischoff.

And wow, I thought Nick Johnson was a decent role player. I am shocked the Wild did not give him a QO.
If they qualify him, he can take them to arbitration. So they offer him a contract after that period so he cant take them to arbitration, where he would certainly earn more.

@TSN1290Radio reporting @NHLJets did not extend qualifying offers to Eric Fehr, Michael Forney, John Negrin.
Fehr was already known, Forney and Negrin are hardly surprising.

Even though it hasn't been announced or anything, It's safe to say the Oilers aren't qualifying Cam Barker.

and Omark

Its also safe to say Ryan Parent is done as a Canuck. Its been reported he's lookin to sign in Europe because he knows he won;t be playing in North America outside the ECHL. Was a healthy scratch most of the past season in the AHL
